Re: Recieving MMS Messages through Verizon

I'm not sure if this will help you out or not because I think your issue of "no option" is different from my previous inability to send MMS. I could recieve MMS but couldn't send them. If you have MMS apps installed and are not able to send MMS pictures try this simple trick. Simply dial *22899.

I actually went through two phones about a year ago with Verizon trying to get MMS working. Verizon gave up and said there was nothing else they could do. When I upgraded to 6.1 two weeks ago it still didn't work, and my EVDO was sporadically going in and out all the time. It was doing that prior to the upgrade and that actually led to the upgrade. However going to 6.1 didn't solve either my MMS inability or the EVDO issue. Then I ran across a thread about reprovisioning the phone with *22899 to update the PRL and the phone programming specific to Verizon. MAGICALLY it fixed both of my problems. It makes sense now. You have to dial *228 option 2 to update your PRL and keep it up to date, and you have to program your phone when you first get it with option 1.

*22899 is the same as doing both option 1 and 2 after *228.

Hope this helps someone.

RShep...I just gave it a shot. Still no luck. AND just to confirm that It wasn't just on my end (not being able to send MMS out), I had my friend send me a audio and pic MMS, and I still didn't receive either one.

let me know if it works for you

So basically by adding a user name to the #777 that blocks all data access until you remove the user name if you would like to access the data features right?

And another question for anyone who might know, you cannot have the National Access Data Block on your service for any of this to work right?

I have the data block on my account and even if I put the phone into 1x Only mode, still can not send/receive mms.

So guessing you can't have the National Access Data Block on your account for this to work.

[edit] I know how to go into the registry and enable the display the settings for Mode of Operation and giving you the options of Hybrid/EVDO/1X or are you going into the EPST and into Modem Settings?

I am pulling my hair out on this...

I have flashed my phone with 6.1 pro including Arcsoft MMS. I have called Verizon and had the data block removed from my account and I have tried forcing the phone into 1X mode.

I think my situation is unique though because I am getting a very prompt message when I try to send picture MMS that

"Warning!
Unable to send your message(s). Your message(s) will remain in the Drafts folder"

And when I try to download one I get a very similar message

"Warning!
Unable to receive your message(s). Your message(s) will remain in the Inbox"

And I can't do it in EVDO mode with data enabled and no user name set up on the #777 dialer for the data access. In other words mine was wide open, absolutely nothing stopping it from sending / receiving the messages and still NADA, NILCH...ZIPPO!

Anyone, please help...thank you and BTW I really appreciate everyone who is contributing to allow people like me to keep up with this stuff!!!

Re: Recieving MMS Messages through Verizon

With Data Block on my account, I get 'Message Delivery Failed. Or Messge Receipt Failed.

I get this same message anyway I try to send an MMS with the data block on my account.

Tried 1x Only Mode:
Started New MMS message and attached picture. No Go.
Opened up Camera app and click-hold on a pic and clicked Send. Choose Pics/Video. No Go.
Opened up camera app and click-hold on a pic and clicked Send. Choose New Picture Message. No Go.

So guessing not a way to bypass the account data block on VZW end.

That's what I'm saying though... I'm not sure that the data block is definitely the issue because I had Verizon enable my data and I still couldn't send / receive, see what I'm saying?

Try PMing Xhuul because he is the one who swears it can be done, Im sure you read the whole thread but he has most emphasis in the beginning and he just last logged in a few days ago so he is current.

Re: Recieving MMS Messages through Verizon

yeah i don't know man... forcing 1x fixed my problem because i'd get a mobile miscellaneous ip occurred error. forcing 1x fixed that and allowed me to send and receive.

I have helmi's 6.1 kitchen now, standard settings, only thing i did was force 1x. I don't have a data plan, so i put a username in the #777 settings just so that it won't accidentally connect and download stuff. when it asks for a password i just say ok and it connects.

other than that everything is standard. I live on an EVDO/1x fringe area so it hopping back and forth not only killed my battery, but kept me from sending mms.

Re: Recieving MMS Messages through Verizon

I had to add a server in mine because my server settings looked nothing like the one's you and someone else had posted and I got it to work once.

Ever since then I get a message that "originator address not found."

My settings for the default before I added the new one were:

Server Name:
Default

Gateway:
63.73.9.22

Port:
9201

Server address:
http://vxpix.com/servlets/mms

Connect via:
Verizon Wireless

Send limit:
100K

WAP Version:
WAP 1.2

Additionally these were all greyed out and unable to be changed, hence I created the new server.

I also had to go into MMS options on the right soft button in the arcsoft program.

There is no way that I can see to get to the server settings through the pics/videos inbox on the menu button so I looked around until I found something resembled it.
