Problems With Microsoft Live Search App.

Hello,

After reading the reviews of other 6700 users, I grabbed the LiveSearch.cab from MS's website:
http://wls.live.com/

In installed it and get the message:
The file 'Live Search' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file.

Uninstalling and then reinstalling does not help at all. I've tried both internal memory and my SD memory. Neither of these make a difference.

A couple of weeks ago, I upgraded to Helmi's AKU 3.3 ROM. I haven't had problems with running other apps on my phone, just this.

Does anyone know a fix for this?
Is anyone else seeing this problem?
Is it a compact framework issue?

Any help/advice is appreciated.

I think you will need .NETCF2 for this to work. I am not sure if the stock Helmi 3.3 comes with any version of .NETCF at all.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I had a hunch it could be a .NetCF issue. I'm going to see if I can put .NetCF 2 on the AKU3.3. If this doesn't work out, I'll just reflash to a different 3.3 ROM. I'll post an update in a bit.

Thanks

Update:

I installed .NetCF2 on Helmi's AKU 3.3. This fixed the problem with Live Search.

Thanks dudes for your help.

If you go to the ftp site you will see that the .netCF2 oem folder is there, so, if you want, you can cook net2 right into your rom.

I tried the latest live search from http://mobile.search.live.com/client/download.aspx and installed CF2 but I when I open live search, if I select a contact for directions or a map I get an error and it closes live search. Anyone get it working?

Save to Contacts

Has anyone else had a problem with Live Search closing after hitting the "Save to Contacts" link? Everything else works except this. I'm using Sar 3.5 pr4. This was working perfect with Colonel's 3.3 rom.

There is a thread somewhere where numerous people have complained that they cannot get the "lookup from contacts" to work, which is probably related to the problem you are having (accessing contacts database)
