Re: BT headset button won't activate phone
The links to the software should be fine cuz that was the last WM6 kitchen developed when I upgraded. I'm in that link somewhere. The sticky on the upgrade subforum is now for the first 6.1 kitchen. Alot of people like it but I'm going to wait a bit if I upgrade at all.
As for fixing your voice tags and BT headset problem, an OS flash/update to WM6 is not a guaranteed fix. Certainly, if you cook your own ROM you should be sure that the voice tag software is available. I must have left it out cuz I can't do the voice tags, just the MSVC. Just try cooking a ROM first. If it goes well and you feel good about it you can flash it. Point is you don't have to flash every ROM you cook. Also, don't upgrade the OS if you are happy with your device. Sounds like you liked the voice tag and headset operation in WM5. You could flash back to the stock Verizon ROM. WM6 gives you html mail and Windows Live and WM6.1 gives you threaded SMS and zooming IE but all these features can be obtained through different browsers and software. Oh, just checked and it looks like your Cyberon VC that you liked is an option. Let me know if you have any other questions. |

where's the latest Helmi 6.0 kitchen?
Ok, I just checked. The phoenx06 ROM I'm using was made on 8-10-07, using the Helmi 3.5 1.0.4 kitchen. The top link on the board also points to that one. Where is the Helmi 6.0 kitchen you suggested me to use? Not to be obtuse, but I really just want to make sure I get the right thing, and I don't know the mapping between the AKUs (isn't that what the 3.5 is?) and the WM (which is what the 6.0 is, right). Where's the latest link to the Helmi 6.0 kitchen?

Re: BT headset button won't activate phone
Step 5 of the Ga.Medic tutorial will get you to the 12/17/2007 kitchen, which was the last WM6 before the first releasable 6.1 came out in early March 2008. You have to have an appreciation for the work and testing involved in developing these kitchens. That's why there are like 100 pages associated with them with issues from testers (basically us) that can be fixed in the next kitchen. It looks like your ROM was made with one of the first WM6 kitchens that came out. I got my 6700 in Nov 07, found the PPCGeeks site in Dec 07, read for about a month, and did my first (and only) flash in Feb 08. However, prior to the August 07 kitchen, I don't know how many iterations exist. I know that when I asked the forum, they did not recommend flashing to the already cooked ROMs that were floating around and cook through the kitchen. Just folllow the directions and you should be OK. Have you checked your Bootloader version yet? The 1.02 and 1.04 versions will be less troublesome than the 2.XX versions.
Well, I guess I didn't pick up on the fact that you could never get your BT headset to activate your phone for a call with the Cyberon or the voice tags. I know that my BT headset works with MSVC with the Helmi_c WM6 ROM I cooked so that does seem to be ROM related. I'm not quite sure what that 3.5 AKU means, either. I do know that that was the last VZW-sanctioned upgrade to the ROM, and that was still WM5. When you do Start>Settings>System tab>About on the device what does it say about the operating system version? Maybe you aren't really running WM6??? Mine says Windows Mobile 6 Professional. If you do happen to run into issues, it is best to post to the end of that Ga.Medic thread, which is still active. There is gguruusa there that really knows their kitchen stuff. I didn't have any problems other than not having .NET 2.0 Framework installed (kitchen wouldn't start) and RUU couldn't update the phone cuz it couldn't find an ActiveSync file. You do know there is a separate upgrade subforum: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53 We should be posting there according to the rules but so far no one has complained. I suppose you could do a search over there for WM6 kitchens after 12/17/2007 if you want to make sure there are no more kitchen versions. Also, I think it would be best to work off one tutorial. Mixing the files between different builds could really be a disaster. Last edited by gambatte; 04-14-2008 at 10:25 AM. |
