Help!! My apache is almost dead!!

Why couldn't the battery have shorted out? Do you have an extra to try? I think they are only 10 bucks or so. I'm sure these things can take a little abuse, can't they??? I'd try a little more to resuscitate the poor guy than pronounce it DOA. But if you have the insurance, go for it!
