Re: I think I messed up...
I just got a xv6700 and attempted to do them same thing and encountered a similar error. I was able to go to the HTC website and download a base ROM image that restored my phone. However I have still not been able to get past the same error you are getting. (After I restored the system to the base ROM at the HTC website, the USB page now states version 1.04).
One thing I noticed was that during the ROM build I saw two messages that concerned me towards the end. First message was: - Making ROM - ImgfsToNb 2.1 RC2 - ImgFs size:0x3900000 bytes (0x1c800 sectors) - Not conservative mode. Changing imgfsEnd from 0x3f00000 to 0x3f40000 - Warning: Storage Partition Not Found. - ImgFs Flash Region Log blocks was 0x38c, now is 0x390 - No storage Flash Region found! - Done! Second one stated: Copying extra files: Directory not found Also when I went to upload the new ROM with the update utility it would list the current ROM version, radio version for my PocketPC but would only show the new ROM that was replacing it and a blank under Radio and the other one. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: I think I messed up...
Don't worry my friend. You're fine. As long as you are still getting power and you can see that USB 1.00 screen your device can be saved. Flash the OEM Sprint or Verizon or whatever ROM and your device will come back to life.(given, your battery is charged enough to finish the upgrade)

I've tried reflashing...on my computer it says unknown usb device...I've even tried the vista driver trick. I downloaded the general driver, when I tried selecting it through the device manager, it says this file isn't a valid 32 bit file for your device...
soo frustrating.... |

Re: I think I messed up...
You have 2 options:
1. Download APA_SPCS_20600_303_12700_WWE_Ship.exe, The OEM Sprint WM5 ROM to your desktop and right click and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR 2. Go to this path on your PC: C:\Program Files\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Upgrade\Apache_RUU\RU U Now that you are there, right click on ROMUpgradeUt.exe and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR One of these 2 methods should bring your phone back to life as long as you have enough battery to complete the upgrade. I personally flashed my Vogue and Apache on Vista WITHOUT the driver trick by doing this. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LET VISTA INSTALL THE DRIVERS AUTOMATICALLY FOR USB DEVICE. If you do not do this, it may NOT work. Post your results, Dan. |

Re: I think I messed up...
Another option is to use a memory card reader to COMPLETELY back up your Mini-SD card and then format it to FAT32. Extract APA_SPCS_20600_303_12700_WWE_Ship.exe to its own folder and rename nk.nbf to APACHIMG.nbf and copy it to your Mini-SD.
Power off your device and insert your Mini-SD card and then power your device back on. Once your phone re-enters bootloader(the screen that displays USB 1.00), hit the power button on top of the device. On my Vogue, this will start a cable free ROM update. I do not know for certain that this will work on the Apache but if all else fails, it could be worth a try. Quote:
Great suggestion by the way. (not sarcasm) Last edited by DHarvey; 03-30-2008 at 01:18 AM. |
