Solid red LED for a 6700

I have a 6700 that I changed the screen on. When I got it back together and plugged in the charger the LED light turned solid red and does not change.

I know the battery was charged before I did this and I have taken apart/fixed/put back together many many PDA's so I doubt I did anything wrong (could be anything though!).

I have taken it apart, checked every connection, looked over the motherboard for any obvious defects, changed back to the old working (non working digitizer) screen etc etc.

I do not use this phone anymore now its more of a matter of me vs it!

I want to either figure it out or trash it. Tired of it looking at me mocking my on my desk!

Any thoughts or tips?

The device physically works right? The only problem is that the LED is always red? Have you tried no2chem's nueled? It allows you to change the LED functions completely, even disable them.

Nah, doesn't turn on. That's the problem. I would actually love to get it working if possible. My son just turned 16 and he could use a bit more organizational skills :P

Re: Solid red LED for a 6700

So when you plug it in all you get is a solid red light instead of the normal amber charge light and it will not turn on whether plugged in or not?

Sounds like it could be the battery. Have you ever gotten the phone wet?

Also, did you use a static wrist strap to ground yourself and avoid any potential static damage?

Re: Solid red LED for a 6700

Solid red can also be a problem with the charger.
I am in Israel right now and have blown one charger and found two that didn't work at all, just gave me the solid red. (One of them would actually give me an orange and appear to charge for a little while if I kept the backlight off, but then eventually went red.) On the fourth charger, I found one that worked. It appears critical that you use one with the exact specs.
I also tried charging it from a USB port on a regular XP computer and that didn't work either.

Re: Solid red LED for a 6700

I agree, everytime I have had a red LED is because the battery is too dead to power up the phone. I havent had a charger give the same issue but its possible.

Gents,
I also had this issue with my first XV6700. After replacing the screen, i bent one of the battery pins on the phone when putting it back together. Light was amber then turned red when placed in the charger.

red LED has something to do with the battery or the device is not charged or charging correctly

Re: Solid red LED for a 6700

Well,

I have tried different batteries, but they all may be dead. That is a definate possibility now, it has been a few months. The only chargers I have are for my Hermes now. I might be able to scrounge one up at our office though.

So the consensus is that the battery is too far gone to be charged up properly?

Any tips on how to get it going?

Re: Solid red LED for a 6700

The only thing you can do is find a battery that will take a charge and a charger to charge it with. Thats all I can tell you.
