the contacts problem is still there. even after a hard reset. it sometimes goes away after hard reset but it is back after a soft reset.
Ok thats really wierd. Try this. hard reset, reflash the rom, before customization starts, hard reset again. Also just in case to hard reset the phone hold the 2 soft key buttons and use your stylus to push in the reset.
press y on the keyboard to clear storage and press the space bar if asked to reset.

FRom what i understand, if the PPC is not properly cleared of everything in storage, you will have remnants of what was already in there mixed in with the new rom. the contacts wont open up because you have 2 instances or pims in there. Hence the need for all the hard resets. The roms are not perfect, then again we are not manufacturers, just trying to hack these things to our liking.

Actually, the problem with contacts arises from trying to use a pim.vol from an AKU prior to 3.3. What you need to do is activesync your phone and contacts PRIOR to loading this ROM (with an AKU 2.0 or 2.2 ROM) Then, once you upgrade to this ROM, activesync your contacts back in. DO NOT COPY A PRE AKU3.3 PIM.VOL INTO AN AKU3.3 ROM. The result will be the flashing contacts problem. This is a know issue with copying the pim.vol from a prior AKU into an AKU3.3 ROM. It is not specific to this ROM.

DO NOT RESTORE FROM A BACKUP. Since this is a new AKU, you will need to do full re-installs of your programs. If you are restoring your files from a backup, then your pre-AKU3.3 pim.vol is coming in with the restore and causing your flashing contacts problem. Otherwise, if you are just copying that file in, then you'll need to activesync instead.

Same problem here!

I see some of the junk stuf from Sprint is still there like the sample Audio.
Let me answer both of these. This ROM does NOT include the extended ROM portion. If you have not modified your extended ROM, then all of the Sprint stuff gets installed. I did not include an extended ROM so that this would be compatible with all carriers. Just use your AKU 2.2 extended ROM, but remove the stuff you don't want.

As far as the version goes, this is definitely AKU 3.3, and I remember when the first AKU 3.3 came out, someone else mentioned that it still said 2.11.20. There was an explanation for why (which I don't remember) but the ultimate concensus was that it didn't really matter what that line says. We are definitely using an AKU 3.3, though.

I didn't see this post as i was getting my custom rom kitchen created, but yes it is done. I even updated the wiki how to section as well:
http://wiki.ppcgeeks.com/index.php?title=How_To

it looks like my rom tutorial page has been accessed 37 times alread so i guess people do use the wiki!!
I love the wiki! its a great place to get straightforward how-tos without having to go through pages and pages of posts. then if you have a problem with something just come yo the forums to get it figured out. Please don't ever abandon the wiki. as soon as I get more familiar with this custom rom/aku stuff i'll be more than happy to contribute to the wiki. I really appreciate all the hard work everyone here has done. thanks.
