To install the AKU 3.3 firmware update, the device must be placed in Bootloader mode before being connected to the PC. To do this, hold the Power and Record buttons and then Soft Reset. Continue holding these buttons until the Bootloader screen appears. It will read USB once connected to your PC. You can then install the update normally.
there are at least 4 different post in the apache section that'll help answer your questions. your device should work fine after the update.

There will always be bugs- even with an official release. Put it on and see how you like it. If not then just reflash to what you have now. Personally I love it.

This update is the best thing to ever happen to the 6700 IMHO. It will take you a little time and work to get it loaded and get everything working but just consider it a learning experience. Do the update when you have plenty of time to get things the way you want them. Be prepared to reflash a couple of times and as Alwaysbelieve1 said you can always go back to where you are now.

I'm interested in the AKU 3.3 update, but nervous. Is it possible to go back to the official Sprint supported AKU?
I just don't want the phone to die and go into the store and have them tell me "You messed with the ROM. Tuff, go away." Also, is there a way to backup my entire ROM and simply restore it with all of my settings if I want to go back? Thanks!! |

I ask this in the other post, but I don't know if anyone heard me. I downloaded the AUK3.3 file to my computer and it goes into a realplayer file. When I try to open it up it say "realplayer needs to download new software to play this clip" I would like to know what am I doing wrong, and why is it coming as a realplayer file. I got the file from phonenews.com and I got one from the rapiddownload site. Please let me know because I want to get the new update for my ppc 6700

Yes you can dl the original sprint rom from http://www.utstar.com/pcd/ from the download section. keep it in a safe place on ur computer, and cook your phn as many times as u like. If u need to go the store, reflash the original rom and you are good. Or be like me and suprise them at the store with all the new shit I got and let their techies beg me to do their shit and i get free stuff or better customer care.

You might have a file association problem or at one time tried to open this type of file with real player. right click on the file and select open with, then choose winrar or zip, cant remember which it is. Might also want to click always use this for this type of file for next time.
Also did you dl it into the real player folder, that could also be as problem, move the file over to your desktop or something Quote:

so is there another why to download this file, the other files I download go into this right zip files, just for some reason only this file is going into the realplayer file. I try to open it with zip or winrar but I can't find them. I'm really not that dum when it comes to this stuff, it's just for some reason i can't find this file.
