I'm pretty sure you won't be able to make a shortcut for smartskey. If you put one in Startup, then it will create its own the first time you run it. Every time you restart, it will ask you if you want to exit because there are two shortcuts. Best to just instruct people to run it once from \Windows.

Actually I linked into startup and in programs. So, on reset, it starts. Then someone can go into Programs and hit it there to disable or reinable it.

If you're using VJCandela light it is one quick press to turn on and then a slightly longer one to turn off (not quite a press and hold). I dunno, that may interfere with smartskey, but since smartskey allows closing with the right softbutton I remapped my ok button to vjcandela light and it works fine the way I described (short press vs. slightly longer press).

You configure smartskey using its ini file. Read the PDF document in the zip file I posted. It describes how to customize the file. There is no UI for it.

Maxx or anybody else, What is the David_Gelb cab he mentioned. I can't find it and don't know what it is.

I now have this installed:
Htc Task Manager (X button app)
Null keyboard
SIP Changer
ClearTemp
SmartsKey
acbPowerMeter
Updated TcPMP to .72RC1 (Is that the latest?)

Anything else that may be considered as a "crucial" app for most users? I'm kinda running out of ideas. If I had a laptop I would start playing with tha PAN module, but alas, I don't. Any news on getting MMS to work? I never use this either so I haven't messed with it.

Colonel - I posted this in the 3.3 problems thread, but since you are the rising star right now, I figured that I would lob this your way and see if you could help me out!
I will try to get to it as I have time. Right now the rom includes O2+ which can do some of this, but not nearly as many options. I know a lot of people also use Phone Alarm. Let me get another beta out and then I will try to get this to work. If I forget, send me a PM to remind me.
I am using O2+ now, and you ar right, there are more fucntions, but the fast stable ROM is the best function of all!

As for ps SHUT XP, here is a link to the software.

And thanks Colonel for all of the hard work. Downloaded your Beta 1, but will wait for Beta 2 now!
This shut program is ridiculous as it takes more effort to get to the ability to shut the phone down as well as all the other features than it does simply to stick the stylus in the bottom of the phone.

I say NAY on the Shut app.
The real nice thing about the app is that is writes the registry entries before completing the soft reset. Pushing the button at the bottom does not guarantee any registry edits will be written.

Do the biggest deal. It's only like 35K and can be easily installed if left out of the ROM.

I have a few Cab suggestions you might want in there.

How about:
DavidGelb_Bbeach_Phonev.1.0_PPC6700.cab
PocketXpdf_0.5.0.CAB

Here is a folder with some freeware:
2nullkb.PP3_CEF.CAB = (so soft keyboard won't pop up)
BatteryStatus.0.04.CAB = (nice battery image with CPU speed )
Batti-1.3.arm.CAB = (simple batery bar top edge of screen)
ClearTemp.cab = (simple prog for IE files only )
psshutxp_eng.xscale.cab = (reset program, nice looking)
VIBRATEPHONEKEYS.cab = (great vibration feedback 4 when your punching a phone number in )
VJLumosII.cab = ( nice brightness boost for screen)
wmpstatusplugincab.cab =(nice wmp Today screen plugin)

Was going to put them in my Extrom anyways
Personally- except for PocketXpdf (and I dont even know what DavidGelb_Bbeach_Phonev.1.0_PPC6700 is), but I don't want any of the other ones in a ROM on my phone. I JUST don't need them. I like simplicity. Maybe your Ext. Rom is a good place for them.

I definitely love the CF 2 and Total Commander Integration. Thanx Colonel"

This shut program is ridiculous as it takes more effort to get to the ability to shut the phone down as well as all the other features than it does simply to stick the stylus in the bottom of the phone.
Lol, thats funny but the shut program is nice cause I don't have to yank out my stylus when the icon is there on the bottom.

Sorry for the speling error on this file:
DavidGelb_Beach_v.1.0_PPC6700.cab

It's a nice beach phone skin that I did not include because I agree with you that any added progs should be small as well as usefull for placing in a ROM.

I looked at the list in first post but I don't see a reg editor like PHM and Pocket RAR which I think is important enough, so amyby those too?
