CALENDAR ENTRIES SHOW WRONG TIME

After doing the greatest and latest (THANKS FOR IT COLONEL) my calendar entries are off by 8 hours. is there a fix for this

colonel 02-08-2007 09:01 PM

Thanks Slypher.

Radames, that is a strange one. Perhaps try another hard reset and make sure everything is set correctly on your PC before syncing.

Radames_R 02-08-2007 09:09 PM

i did, it was working fine before i did any of the hacks, but just my luck, mine doesnt work correctly on the calendar, but my co workers does on the initial 3.3

2ndchance 02-08-2007 10:58 PM

Is it me or is there no way to search within a thread? Man.. I tried.

Ok, today, I've seem to ran into the problem of my PIE shutting down on it's own. I have my homepage set up as http://www.google.com/pda

As soon as Google loads up, PIE closes down. Not minimize, but shuts down.

It didn't lock up... but shut down.

Any ideas?

Re: CALENDAR ENTRIES SHOW WRONG TIME

Can't you just go into your Settings> Clock & Alarms> and change your TimeZone?

2ndchance, are you running your PIE cache from the storage card? This has caused issues in the past. Also, some sites will freeze\crash PIE when they are view in single column mode.

brad65807 02-08-2007 11:30 PM

hey colonel your latest nk.nbf zip gives "unexpected end of file" or something like that....

Alwaysbelieve1 02-08-2007 11:31 PM

it's not done uploading yet.

Simple IE workaround

Hey all. I created a simple IE workaround that works great.
1. Go to Mobile Word and create a new doc
2. Save the BLANK doc as a plain .txt file and discard the word format.
3. rename that file blank.html or anything.html
4. Click on the file after renaming and PIE will now open to a blank page even with Colonel's Rom.
5.Under options, set current page as start page

I know that's really simple, but I didn't see it in any of the other 57 pages and thought it might help some.

As for my question for the night, can anyone access picture mails sent to them via PIE or any other format. When I click on it, it opens PIE and pulls up the HUGE 300K page with full desktop HTML and Java scripting. I tried editing the user agent back to the old version in the reg, but it is no go. Likewise, is anyone able to access the vision homepage? There was a workaround a while ago, but it does not work anymore. Now that AKU 3 is up and running, is there a way to get the vision page working?

Thanks a bajillion Colonel and all the others for your immense amount of work on this. My phone is working flawlessly now with last night's Sprint .NKF. It's hard to compare batt life as I have been using the phone non-stop to experiment with every aspect I can like day one when I got it.

Thanks!!!
-Josh

To change the default Homepage you can also go here with either of the included registry editors:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs]
"home_0409"="http://www.ppcgeeks.com"

As for MMS (picture mail) it seems to be hit or miss with the Sprint site (I assume you are talking about Sprint) Sometimes it works for me, sometimes there is no picture, sometimes the whole site has an error.

Alwaysbelieve1 02-09-2007 12:11 AM

What would the file be that I need to save from the Palm Messaging App in order to keep my text messages that I have on my phone now to put them back on after a hard reset and/or flash?

Alwaysbelieve1 02-09-2007 12:12 AM

Also the Latest has just been deleted by someone. When will this issue be resolved?

colonel 02-09-2007 12:20 AM

Putting it up again.

I finally found the registry for the Smartdialer colors. It is:

[HKLM\Software\HTC\Smartdialing]

Don't know how I missed that. Anyway, I have some colors but if anyone wants to get artistic and find some really good ones, let me know.

Alwaysbelieve1 02-09-2007 12:26 AM

Does anyone have the Inclose as well as the HTC Task Manager cabs they can attach here real fast please?

Colonel did you already put it back up....if you did you might want to check it because when i tried extracting it winrar says the file is corrupted.

colonel 02-09-2007 12:48 AM

Not at home anymore. I can get it to you in the morning if noone else has it. The HTC one is here somewhere. look for "little task manager" or faria or something like that

Alwaysbelieve1 02-09-2007 12:55 AM

Yeah the LATEST is only 20.7 mb and has been for the past 15 min. or so.

If anyone has the one that was put up tonight please upload it to Colonel's section on the FTP- ASAP.

Thanx

colonel 02-09-2007 12:58 AM

Don't rush though, I have some pretty good stuff to get into one tomorrow anyway. I think my computer must have frozen during the upload.

flexpackman 02-09-2007 01:02 AM

Something to do for a first post... It's still uploading.. Just slow...

Look for around 39 meg and she will be done

n8mack33 02-09-2007 01:27 AM

Seems to be hanging around 25 megs. What is the Verizon ms.nbf.zip file by the way?

colonel 02-09-2007 01:30 AM

The Verizon ms.nbf is just the verizon ExtRom in a file that the installers can use. If the nk.nbf doesn't get up tonight, I will have an improved on tomorrow.

Mine was doing this too all of a sudden, but had been working fine before. A soft reset seems to have fixed it. Very strange though...

OK, I'll hold off until then. My beta 2 install seems to be freezing a lot so I was going to see if I could figure out the nbf install and not wait for an installer.

Quick question - is the verizon extended rom that is included in your 3.3 beta 2 installer an exact copy of the 2.2 extended rom? It seems to be more difficult to remove the junk from Verizon's extended rom, but there are a couple things I removed from my 2.2 install and if they're the same I can just use what I had before (since now I forget which ones can be removed!).

colonel 02-09-2007 01:38 AM

I think it is just a stock ExtRom. What is the junk that needs to be pulled out?

I posted InClose in this very thread a few days ago (Sunday I think). Look back a few pages and you should find it.

Alwaysbelieve1 02-09-2007 02:56 AM

Colonel what cool things are you gonna be blessing us with this time? A hint would be very nice. :)

Alwaysbelieve1 02-09-2007 03:02 AM

Anyone have any solution for my Palm Messaging question?

Oh and I found Inclose. Thanks Chill.

ok, I'm not the only one. Now that I am using my PPC really alot, it freezes up like crazy when I reset. Been having to hard reset. No add-ons.

colonel 02-09-2007 04:12 AM

How\when is it freezing up? The more information you can give me, the better chance of fixing the problem. Are you getting shell errors?

I'm having the same problem as well. Very annoying, but not sure how to fix it. It almost seems as if the page doesn't finishing loading in my case, and it is trying to pull the sprint pcs regualr website in lieu of the WAP one.

Does anyone use a program to allow multiple IE windows?

How do I get the gps to work as a gps?

Last thing, how do I just update the fbk file since I already upgraded everything else?

Thanks for all your help and great info.

Use opera for multiple windows or tabs

You need an external GPS unit to use the phone for GPS (tom tom, etc)

fbk?

Oh, so I should just buy a tom tom and not use the pda. Wouldn't that be better?

Sorry, I meant nk.nbf file.

Thanks!

The phone does not do GPS nativly, you need an external unit to hook it up to.

for the nb file, if the nb file was present in the directory you launched the rom installer from, it will have installed already and the files are in your extended_rom, if it wasn't present when you did the rom upgrade, redo the rom upgrade with the nb.nbf in the install directory.

I just upgraded or you might call it downgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. now while it has a built in active synce to add my programs it seems that the ram flash upgrade for the 3.3 does not work. I get a message "This rom update is not for your specified device." Is this a problem with Vista or a problem with the way I am doing it?

If you look at the instructions for the rom upgrade, it specifically says it won't work with vista, only XP (you can sync with vista fine though)

thejunki 02-09-2007 02:22 PM

well thanks.... I guess I didnt read the instructions.... Sorry

I have discovered that the shell errors are not only caused by HTC Task Manager, but also Inclose.

I put only Inclose on an AKU 2.0 and have received more shell errors than with the HTC closer.

AHA! Yes I was trying to track down that shell error with the "NO ExtRom" loaded and didn't realize it had a shortcut in the startup folder which was making it alive even though I did not select it.

I also am not running the "latest", but the one you uploaded the other day and the nullkeyboard does not work good. I updated it with this version posted.

Also I need batti updated so there won't be need for the settings to be in a tool folder. It works correctly with latest I am also posting.

Also I had IE freezing on main webpage but I changed default webpage in IE settings and also had to select normal view to get it working .
Now all that has to be done is to play with registery to get it to NOT be viewed as a desktop web browser.
Then pages should load nicer, especially sprint picmail page!

Edit: woops forgot to post files!

colonel 02-09-2007 03:58 PM

Have the latest batti in the latest nk.nbf. Still working on nullkeyboard and SIPChange.

So, basically you both are saying that disabling InClose or X button clears up the shell error issue?
