What's really new in AKU 3.3 - post em as you find em

So, this is one of the first questions people ask about aku3.3 - "what's new..."

I have found a couple sites with AKU info, this one has really good 3.3 info:
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/5857.html
And then there is this one:
http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/art...m-aku-en.shtml

Stuff we knew:

No DUN BT, only PAN (not yet working in our 3.3 rom)

Stuff I didn't know:

* You can now make playlists in Windows Media!
(1) update your library
(2) in the library, press and hold song, selete Queue...
(3) in Now Playing, Menu, Save Playlist...

Whee! It works!

Stuff that doesn't seem to be there

* send vCard via SMS - doesn't seem to be available

"New" PIE

And from
http://blogs.msdn.com/iemobile/
Lots of good info on the (newer) PIE, including the registry settings to control its cache size and location.

I've (as a test) set my cache size to 40mb, and moved just the cache to the storage card - so far seems to be ok.

wifi... seems faster...

Ah this is interesting!

Post AKU 3.3 rom update it sure *felt* like Wifi was going faster.

And it is! To test, I fetched a 300mb file over my lan (Samba, linux server) and enabled traffic monitoring (ntop) on the interface...

Real time thruput being tracked (after 180MB sent...):
Code:
Network Load
Actual 2.6 Mbps	448.2 Pkts/sec
Last Minute 2.5 Mbps	436.8 Pkts/sec
Last 5 Minutes 2.6 Mbps	458.5 Pkts/sec
Peak 2.7 Mbps	479.2 Pkts/sec
Average 2.6 Mbps	455.7 Pkts/sec
Running XCPUScalar 2007 on the 6700, without enabling any speed boost, CPU load shows... 82% Boosting CPU to 520mhz, cpu load is 82% - so it's not CPU bound.

However, they must have made some internal changes to the tcp/wifi code, or something else, because it now transfers almost 1mbit/sec faster... 2.5mbit is still a little shy of the 5.5mbit you should be able to get out of 802.11b, but it's not horrible.

One thing I just noticed is that huge PhoneOff file is gone. So is PhoneOn for that matter. Nothng huge, but saves a bit of space.

EDIT: Actually found that one of the Sprint ExtRom cabs installs these files.

My BT headset automatically started the pairing process as soon as I put ti into discoverable mode. A notifier popped up and asked if I wanted to pair.

One thing that is new that I don't really like is the Vision arrows are now blended in with the signal strength and are always solid, vs the fade effect when not active and solid when active in the old ROM. Personally I like to see when the connection is actively passing data vs. dormant.

Well, PIE is not happy (still) running off the card. It will work for some random amount of time after clearing the cache, and then it will either not launch (launch/exit as soon as you go anywhere) or just hang mid page download... And the cache size is reset to 13MB on every soft reset. So, back to default cache settings for me.

Actually, with my Plantronics 510, once Bluetooth was turned on all I had to do was tap the MFB on the headset and it started this. Basically the same thing I would do if I walked away from the phone and wanted to reconnect.
