It worked. I hard reset before I flashed the ROM on, hard reset after it was on the device. Synced, and not all contacts were transfer. Hard reset for the third time, and bingo...everything transfered!

I notice that if I go to full screen crash occurs when I manually go to full screen while in map view. I have been able to go full screen by going to the "route list" screen first, which I binded to my left. Of course, I'd have to see how it goes when I'm driving today.
Same thing happened to me without the gps receiver. When it goes to full screen by itself, its not a problem, but if you try to send it to full screen yourself, it crashes.

palm messaging - mms working????

Thanks to Mike and Helmi for bringing this to us.

Has anyone gotten the MMS piece of the Palm messaging app to work? Please post your experiences.

The reason I ask is because I thought (based on HTC Hermes postings) that the MMS piece only worked with AKU 2.3+, and since this is 3.3, it should be working. But, when I do an install (beta 4 of Palm Messaging), MMS does not work.

Any thoughts, anyone?

And, if you have gotten it to work, I would appreciate it if you could post a detailed how to.

Thanks.

Not Able to View Picture Mail

Can anyone with Sprint view their Picture mail?

I can send fine using the MMS .cab.

When I click the link to View Picture mail, it will bring up Sprint Picture Mail's website but NO picture is viewable. I can see the sender but nothing in the body. Does anyone have a workaround for this? Please help.

I think what you understood was that the Palm SMS threading app. (beta 4) can be installed without replacing the dlls on AKU 2.3. YOu are correct it is a seamless install...however MMS is still broken.

Its a CDMA thing, untill we get a treo running windows with a cdma mms app we are dead in the water. Rumor is that is may be released on sprints WX model i think. At that time the gurus will find the dll to plug in that interfaces with the cdma radio we hope

Until then you will have to email pics or use the arcsoft MMS application. Believe me I tried and tried to get this app working with verizon. I tried various combos of the MMS server with port settings etc. No DICE!

Sit back and wait and most important enjoy AKU 3.3. Its night and day differences

Need some help from some of the advanced users. I was trying to tackle the pic&video app issue to fix the Rom. However, in the actual ROM there are only single instances of 4 .dlls. They are mfc80u.dll, mfc80u.dll_, msvcr80.dll and msvcr80.dll_. Here are the two strings from the flash file in the rom.

Directory("\Windows\OEM"):-File("mfc80u.dll","\Windows\mfc80u.dll_")
Directory("\Windows\OEM"):-File("msvcr80.dll","\Windows\msvcr80.dll_")

So, looking at this further, it seems that it is taking the .dll_ files and renaming them in the OEM file. Then, with Sonny's fix, we are actually taking those .dll_ files that were renamed and renaming them again back into the Windows folder. So, would it not make sense to swap these out in the rom?

EDIT: Answer is yes. For Mike and anyone else customizing the rom, just swap out the names of the .dll and .dll_ in the rom and everything should work.

i think when the custom 3.3 is released this will be addressed.

Until then ...this is the proven work-around.

I too am anxious for the custom at some point.

But perhaps bigger fish are to be fried

ok, so i found out what the two wierd cabs are in my "my documents" folder are. The framework.cab is a cf .net cab, not sure which version. i suspect 1.0 because of the file size (2.43mb). The other cab is adoce.cab, which installs microsoft adoce 3.1 (whatever the heck that is). This file is much smaller (229kb). I did a search for adoce and found the following:

http://www.inthehand.com/ADOCE.aspx

Could this have just been remnants of some garbage that existed before i did the rom update? i don't remember these files being in the "my documents" folder before doing the aku 3.3 install.

Does anyone else have these files?

Actually, I just installed the startup/splash screen updater from this site and - poof! - no more SD card. Did you run the starup screen changer by any chance?
