Mike,

I am having some serious issues with the HTC Task Manager app. When active it locks up the pda after a few uses, and gets a shell error. Then it soft resets. More times than I find acceptable. Specially if you press the X to close the phone app. I am using the ETEN dialer if it matters.

However once the HTC task manager is disabled everything works like a charm.

Any thoughts?

Strange isnt it?

Also somewhere during installing apps. The only thing that shows up in the add/remove programs in MS Voice Command 1.6. That was the killer that caused me to reload my sprite backup from the sd card. Now I have a VZW aku 2.2 official rom restored on top of the custom 2.2 However everything is very stable at this point. Not sure where I went wrong. I did listen to a podcast in pocketplayer 3.x last night via BT headphones with no issues. Woke up this morning still fine. HTC TM is disabled still.

VZW XV6700 - Custom 2.2/No ExtROM at this point.

Or, I suggest reading the thread on making your own ExtROM. It is surprisingly easy and I think you could pull it off.
So, If I use the former method, will I have the Sprint logo or the Telecom logo on the initial splashscreen?
Post says one thing, but the Readme file says another.

Eyeballz,

I personally use Magic Button, which allows you to customize the X behavior and for applications, such as the Phone. While I have never had problems with it crashing on the 6700 I realized those apps seemed to popup again even after I ended task on them via the X. I set it to not end task on both Phone and Activesync, since I figured they probably need to be running all the time.

I have a friend with the Treo700WX and when I installed Magic Button on the Treo and hit the X for the phone app it also caused some problems, but I can't remember the exact error. I just setup Magic Button on his to also not end task on those apps and it's been fine ever since.

Jady, ActiveSync 4.2 is fine, and in my opinion, preferred. 4.1 is listed i think for "compatibility" And some of the builds of 4.2 actually list themselves internally as 4.1

Trident, i think what you want to do is load the SprintCustomRom and the NoJunkware ExtRom.

That ill give you a Sprint logo despite the readme saying Alltel. After completion, you will have Wide's stock AKU2.2 image booting with Sprint logo and the modified ExtRom with no junkware. At that point, i suggest you read the WM5 hack list and see if you want to do any of them. You might want to make some changes to the registry if you aren't comfortable with Wide's choice of today screen, soft button links, etc. That's up to you and how you want to tailor your device.

If you do so, please report any troubles regarding the 2.02 serial bootloader bug or SD access to their respective threads.

I am now using devstate. Just to make sure went back to HTC and even tryed the HTC X version. Probally same thing. But anyways, both make it crash identically.

Thanks

Devstate is nice. Particularly love the wireless manager drop menu. Its great for BT users.

everything except date are gone in Today screen

I installed SprintCustom.rar and SprintExtROM_NoJunk.zip and WeatherPanel. Everytime I soft reset the Sprint ppc6700, the Today screen only displays the Date, even I selected to show Owner Info, Messaging, Calendar, Tasks, Device Lock, WeatherPanel and Pocket MSN.

I found that if I unselect WeatherPanel and Pocket MSN, then soft reset, sometimes the Today screen comes normal, sometimes doesn't.

Is there some registry tweak that can solve the problem? Thanks,

On the VZW OS only cab, is there anything in the extended Rom? I chose not to install it and soft reseted after hard reboot. Should I go ahead and let it install?

The AKU looks great so far, fast, fast, fast, and speedy too

zzzzzzzzzz,
I was having the same issue but after having another go at the rom last night the fix that jschurawlow posted worked just fine to bring the today screen back:
Quote:
Just go into your today screen settings.... settings > personal > today and uncheck the additional items leaving just the standard ones. If you put in too many it ends up failing to finish loading and you get a blank today screen (more or less).
I just took out the MSN option and left my SPB today plugin alone and it is fine now.

The SD card issues I was having before are gone as well after doing what isamu49 suggested with changing [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS]
"Flags"=dword:104
back to 44 and the issues are gone with the SD card.

The only other issue I was seeing was with BT. Neither my OnCourse GPS ver2 or my Jabra BT620s would pick up (no issues with my bt800). The 620s upon initial pairing would show as a stereo device but it would never pickup except in normal headset mode. The GPS would not even connect for INav. I went back to the tornado A2DP BT software and everything is working fine now.
Much better and finally stable so I will leave this alone until ver. 3 is released (except for the HTC taskman app. I had to disable that due to the same issues).
Currently at sprint logo'd rom with wideawakes sprint extrom with junkware removed.
