Question xv6700 and 802.11g WiFi? Is it possible?

I still use and love my 6700....

The one thing that really is starting to bug me is the 802.11b wifi only on the phone.

Just wondering if the wifi radio chip on the phone could be replaced with a 802.11b/g chip (or possibly one from the 6800?).

Any thoughts?

sorry it's not. The xv6700 is .b only.
you won't get .g speed till you upgrade to xv6800.

Let me tell you it is well worth it.

Seeing that the only thing I really liked about the 6800 vs the 6700 was the 802.11b/g wifi, I think I will hold off. I have my 6700 fully customized with the WM6 Kitchen and running custom apps. and using the SDHC drivers with an 8gb microSD card. Just was curious if the chip could be replaced or not.

Thanks.

The only way is to buy a SDIO WLAN Card. Try looking it up on the net, like google/yahoo i got great results on different types.

Honestly I don't see any big advantage to having g over b on a phone. 99% of the time your connecting to wifi for internet access. How many people have internet connections with speeds in excess of 11Mb and download from sites that provide that much bandwidth? At home i have 20Mb but I rarely reach speeds above 6-7Mb. I don't know what the rest of you use your connections for but mine is mainly for web pages and for streaming music and movies. I have no problem streaming music and video from the internet over wifi or evdo or streaming music and video directly from my server over wifi. The only advantage I can see would be if the new chip uses less power then the older one.
