The 6700 is slightly more stable than the 6800. This primarily manifests itself in the bluetooth drivers. The 6800 is better in pretty much all other respects. The 6800 currently does not have an official kitchen and the ROMs are kind of spotty (there are a couple of great ones, but most have issues). This will not be the case for much longer, so I wouldn't let that disuade me from a 6800.

If you get a 6700 or a 6800, you should definitely flash to a Helmi based ROM. Stock roms are lousy.

Rob's rom is based on Helmi's, so fundamentally it's the same. You can find a link to his rom in the 1st post in his thread.

Most people who have the stones to visit this site should use the kitchen. The downside of the kitchen is you can't have everything in your ROM, so it's tough to limit yourself. The downside of using Rob's rom is that you are dependent on him for any fixes (and you're stuck with his decisions for tweaks and apps). If you like to have the latest and greatest, you want the kitchen.

People do have troubles sending and receiving picture mail. Generally this is a failure to understand the limitations of your carrier or to use the right MMS package.

Cooking a ROM in the Apache kitchen is trivial, so it's not a big deal having to re-cook when an app is updated or you'd like to try something different. The problem is reloading all your non-ROM applications and data whenever you flash - but that problem exists whether you choose the kitchen or a pre-made ROM. You can always flash a ROM with nothing pre-loaded, but there are quite a few rarely changed apps that people like to fill up available rom space with (it's wasted if you don't fill it).

An AKU is like a version number for Windows CE.

A Radio ROM is exactly that...a ROM for the cell radio in your PPC. Few if any people need to alter/update it.
