Arrow XV6700 on Alltel - HELP!

Hey all. I am having a problem changing the carriers on my XV6700. I have the default carrier (Verizon) and wish to switch it to Alltel, as I have other phones currently with them. I have tried to bake a ROM with Helmi's Kitchen, but when I select Alltel (RUU:NoID) as the carrier, I always get a error 150 (Rom upgrade utility error). If I slelect RUU:X.04+ (which is the correct one) I get the error 120. I can sucessfully flash Verizon to my phone, but I cannot seem to get Alltel. I have also tried the "hack" as defined here (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=12001) and cannot get that to work either. I have the correct SysID for my area, but it always calls Verizon, and dosent default to Alltel. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this phone to activate on Alltel??

Did you change it to home only after you put in the Alltel SID? All you really have to do to use the phone on Alltel is get the Alltel PRL on the phone.

What bootloader do you have on the phone? Im helping someone else do the same thing right now and im afraid if you both have the new bootloader, you will have to revert back to 2.02 before you can flash it to Alltel ROM.

However, the ROM has little to do with the phone programming honestly, I used my XV6700 on Alltel for a month or so before I ever flashed it with no problems.

Thanks for the help. Yes, I followed everything you outlined step by step. And I tried it multiple times after that. I have the 1.04 boot loader. I would prefer the alltel rom if I could set it up that way, but have no prob using the verizon rom either. If this helps:
MCC:310
MNC:00
SID:130
NUM:419721****

P.S. I tried again with a new flash and from the old settings. Also, does this make a difference since when i enter the number, it is from a currently existing phone? (I want to transfer it). If I can just get it where it dials alltel when i call *228 i got it.

Yeah, all I was saying is you can worry about the Alltel ROM once you get it programmed. But luckily you have the good bootloader.

Ok, if you set your phone to home only in the phone options, and you have the SID set to your Alltel SID, then I guess the next thing would be to figure out what SID you're actually on.

From the Dialer dial ##33284 and press send. I'm guessing it will tell you that you are on the Verizon SID for some reason. This absolutely shouldnt be possible, if you set the phone to HOME ONLY.

Anyways, my MCC is 311 and my MNC is 27. I dont know if that would be your problem but give it a shot perhaps?

If you still have problems, its possible to manually update the PRL using the EPST program. You can find the current PRL and instructions on how to do it here...
http://www.the-answerman.com/sidlist/prl/index.asp

I'm still curious though as to why your phone is still calling Verizon, perhaps the Alltel 130 SID is not listed in the PRL that is currently on your phone. Anyways, lemme know what happens, and Ill try to help with what comes next.

Oh, and no, it doesnt matter that your phone is not currently activated in Alltels system, however to get the PRL, you will need to program the phone with your info (min, phone number). Once you do this you should start receiving txt msgs to the phone even though its not even activated yet.

OK. here we have some interesting information. My SID# is still 21, which is what it was before I edited the EPST.
-
I tried editing the MCC and that did give me no coverage, and when I went to call out (home only) it took quite a long time before it connected. But it connected to verizon's then.
-
I then updated the PLR having your MNC/MCC number and the Home Only selected. Now when I called 611 I was rewarded with the familiar Alltel girl. *228 gave me the Alltel programming. I am on the phone with them now to try to switch over my phone, but I have a long wait time. Will post back later and let you know how it goes.

Also, if you didn't notice, I wrote this as I tried the stuff.
ALMOST THERE!

another note: the reason my phone had probs connected to alltel, was the fact i had NO PRL installed. Just found that out here looking through my settings.

Great, glad you got it working.

As far as the ROM goes, did you ever get that straightened out? You said you have 1.04 bootloader, but in your original post you said you were using the x.04+ RUU. That RUU is for 2.05 bootloaders, you need to use the NoID to change to Alltel with the 1.04 bootloader. Once you change it to Alltel you should be able to use the standard RUU from then on.

digit, when you msg'd me were you referring to techheads phone? Or are you also converting to Alltel?

no go on that alltel rom. couldnt get it. what I ended up doing was using the Verizon radio (dropdown box) and selected the alltel customization and the alltel bootscreen. it works fine that way, and there is no indication of it being a verizon phone, except the fact that "Verizon" is printed across the middle top of the phone. Oh, and yes, i had digit contact you via PM. I didnt have an account at the time, and noticed your signature from a Google search. Thanks again.

Btw, i added your name to my signature. thought you'd like to know.
