Unhappy Help! EVDO always switches to 1xRTT...

Hey, Everyone,
I've got a problem that's been buggin' the h3ll outta me for some time now. First, I am running the latest WM6 (Sprint), radio v.1.27, and everything runs great (accept for once when all of my contacts were del'd somehow. 'Actually hap's to my g/f pretty often on her stock T-Mobile Wing. Any help w/ this'll be great, too, but anyway...). I understand EVDO is for data and 1xRTT for voice, sms, & WAP. I can have 5 bars EV signal, connect to Sprint (#777), and it'll switch to 1xRTT. My speed test show anywhere from ~40kbps to ~110kbps, nowhere near broadband speeds. I'd up'd the radio to v.1.43 and had to use IOTA all of the time w/ soft resets just to connect (a REAL PAIN IN THE @$$!!!), so then down'd to v.1.41, and the same. I then down'd to latest stock Sprint ROM (I know, eww ), but just for the radio v.1.27, then up'd back to the latest WM6. Sprint has absolutely nothin' to say (of course). Any help would be greatly appreciated, a GODSEND even.
Thanks.

Oh, yeah. I'm in NYC, so I KNOW there's fully functional EVDO rev.0 w/ rev.A some places. And, 'don't know if this'll help, but when I go from EV to 1x when I connect, and then run ##debug#, under the HDR page, "AN/AAA Authentication" usually reads "2 = Failed Authentication" ::shrug::

Red face

Please, please. Don't all reply at the same time, you'll bog the system down.

I still can connect only via 1xRTT, but need EVDO. 'Searched the forums, and still can't seem to find a fix. I KNOW I'm within EVDO (at least Rev.0) coverage. Anything?

I'm having the same problem on my 6700 except my phone won't even dial #777 - it just goes to 1X dial up for data. Went back to WM5 and it works fine. Back up to WM6 using Helmi's kitchen and no EVDO. Using sprint and radio 1.41. Put the phone data settings on EVDO only and had no effect. I'd hate to have to downmode to WM5 again. WM6 just gives you so much. Also searched forums - nothing.

Oh, boy. Looks like it's you and I, mon ami. So, downgrading to WM5 works, eh? ::sigh:: This latest WM6 runs so d4mn smooth. 'Guess it's back to AKU3.5. H3ll, 'haven't used WM5 in so long, 'don't even know if that's the latest. BTW, what types of speeds do you get in WM5? I believe I'd topped off at ~114kbps w/ 1xRTT. EVDO should top off at ~1.5Mbps, yeah?

WM5 is consistently giving me above 1 mbps. wm6 rarely breaks the 100kbps range. That makes wm6 unsat for me. Darn the luck.

BTW, I disable roaming and use Sprint only. Do you think this poses a prob? 'Shouldn't, right?

C'mon, guys. Someone's gotta know somethin'. I connect fine, but the connection always drops to 1xRTT even if I have 5 bars EVDO signal. Sprint reps "can't seem to find anything in [their] manual."

I went back to WM5 and checked all the settings and they ere identical to what I had set for WM6. Roaming shouldn't matter, but forcing Sprint should fix that possibility. This problem is above my paygrade. I'm just going to have to stick with WM5 until somebody smarter comes along and explains this.

C-Boogie, Baby, I've got good news, GREAT NEWS!!!

Apparently, it was a prob on Sprint's side. After 4 calls, I'd gotten a rep that knew their $h1...uhh, stuff. Some braniac unconscientiously'd given me Vision, as opposed to PowerVision. ::shrug:: Go figure. Ya'd think that the last 3 reps'd noticed "Power" missing from "Vision" if I'd said I have a FRICKIN' "POWERVISION" plan. If I were payin' for it I'd be EVER SO P1$$3D! But, it's all groove. Anyway, C, I'd advise ya t'do the same. Peace, Pimpin'.

BTW, I'd gone from ~110kbps @ 5 bar 1xRTT to ~380kbps @ 2 bar EVDO. Need I say more?... (If so, IMAGINE what it'd be like at 5 bars. ::chucklin' like an adolescent schoolgirl (in Japan ):: )

Oh, yeah! 'Still runnin' Rob Mayer's WM6b7...delicious.
