I upgraded to newest Sprint distribution to get radio and ExtRom, cleaned up ExtRom, then upgraded to your 2.2.

Initial comments:
- works fine, faster, like Crossbow
- .85 MB more Storage Used with your build of 2.2 (5.6 MB) than Sprint build of 2.0 (4.75 MB) - could that be due to A2DP? If not, something else you've added? Not a huge deal - I'm an old mini-computer programmer and just plain anal about memory usage!

Suggestion - incorporate a hack published earlier and make \Windows\PhoneOff.wav a copy of PhoneOn.wav - this will save .75 MB of Storage!

I'll load apps tonight/tomorrow and report back.

Thanks again.
Another datapoint re memory usage:
- Program Memory Used has approx the same variance the other way; i.e. 2.2b1 uses .85 MB less than Sprint 2.0.
- So, total memory used is the same for the 2 versions; the mix between Storage and Program is different

Mike,

On further testing in follow-up to my post on page5. Re-adding the wireless key into the registry did return my start menu icons back to normal without anymore of those default dos-like ones. I'm at a loss for what the heck that non-defined registry key is related to that it'd cause that problem for me.
jschurawlow... What wireless key are you referring to?

in the today items, its actuall there on all devices and with a few reg entries gives you a working wireless today plugin. It is not the cause of this issue. :P

Gotya'..

Anyone had luck with 2.2 and Exchange server? I have got some time this morning and gonna' give this a try.

Another question... Mike, how does the custom ROM that you did play with the new AKU? If I take the existing custom ROM that I am using now and follow the same steps to install it after doing the AKU, will it overwrite (break) anything with the new update?

Since downloading the new beta version I haven?t been able to receive prl 20225. When I dial *2 it says that I qualify for the free update but it never downloads. I am not sure if this is a problem with the beta, or maybe sprint has a limit on how many times the new PRL can be sent. I have be changing and modifying things quite a bit so I had downloaded 20225 several times before. I will call and have them flag my account again to see if it will download. I have 28.79 mb of storage free, and 31.45 mb of program memory free. I don?t see the gps icon there so I will change that in the registry (maybe something that could be added to the final version if possible.) I do like the option for the new crossbow theme.
List of programs I installed:
Adobe Reader
IGuidance ? Able to establish a connection will BT receiver and it showed me my location on the map so I am assuming that it will work fine. Will update if any problems.
Vijay Lumos II
Total Commander
Windows Live Search
TCPMP
YanceyWare Reader
Unbound Medicine
Weather panel
Wisbar advance
Jogosoft PocketNES
PHM Registry Editor
MemMaid
Opera
So far everything is running smooth. It seems that my internet may be running a little slower than before. Maybe cause I don?t have 20225?? Also, I am unable to tether with my laptop when roaming. I get error code 67 saying that my username or password is incorrect. I checked this in the dial up settings and in my phone settings and username and password is blank. It tethers just fine on the sprint network. Any suggestions?? Overall, great work thanks for the time and effort.

I meant to add that to the first post. I removed those two, but left reg references.

So here is my day long adventure with this awesome update.

I agree here... That was my first change.

This has been working fine for my with Push Mail active. Everything synced like a charm.

Ahhh... My custom rom stayed (downside was I'm still testing it). So not sure what was supposed to happen here. Mike?

Quote:
Is anybody else running VC 1.6 with this ROM? The checkboxes to announce incoming calls is gone. As a matter of fact, the only checkbox under the voice command options is "announce calendar reminders"
Yep... Works greate... I get all the announcements just fine. Not 100% sure about call announcments though. I also use CallId v1.6 for the Audio Gateway option.

Quote:
Does anyone have a problem with getting voice command to announce caller ID?
Not sure on this one becuase of what I said above. Check out http://www.ppcgeeks.com/transfer-cal...set-t1559.html. I use this just for the Audio Gateway. But i know call announcements are played as well.

Other then that I applied a couple registry tweaks (same as an earlier post) and this thing screams now.

Apps Installed:
MS Voice Command v1.6
MS Windows Live Search Beta v1.0.2515
SPB Pocket Plus v3.1
BatteryStatus Beta1 v0.03.300 Build 153
phoneAlarm v1.58
Marsware Weatherpanel v2.5
LVMTime v0.1.9
Verichat v1.42b
btCrawler v1.03
CallID v1.06
Egress v3.1.0
MemMaid v1.72
Navizon v2.2.0
Pocket RAR v3.60
PocketXpdf v0.5
UPX4PPC v0.4
WM5torage v1.73
New Menu for Windows Mobile 5 v2.0.2
Yahoo! Go Build 293

I think that is everything. I'm testing some new registry tweaks, but I won't have any results till after the weekend though.

Tweaks are:
1. Removing Voice Speed Dial Reg keys
2. Adding MIME types to attempt to get PIE to not download images, but display them
3. Default configuration of some of the installed apps listed above (such as file associations).

Oh... The Crossbow theme rocks... But it isn't compatible with SPC Pocket Plus. The taskmanager dropdown is a white background with white text. Oh well... It's worth it.

Other sugestions...
1. Remove Voice Speed Dial from the rom (make a CAB if possible for those who may use it)
2. UPX anything possible
3. Pre-Install the Reg patches posted earlier (on page 3 i think).
4. Strip and CAB any applications not nessisary (for space and personal configs, we can customize the extended ROM afterward).
5. Pre-Install CF v2.0 (yeah I know you're working on that one)
6. Pre-Install Widcomm BT Stack (haven't found anything bad about it. I might test it this weeked on this ROM just to make sure).
6a. Rip anything not needed from the MS BT stack if the WidComm can be fully intergrated.

Hope the wish list isn't too long.
