On additional testing, 2nd soft reset and it reverted back to the original today display area problem, however without the wireless key in the items I do now see the random generic start menu icons (going to try putting back in that key into the registry to see if it resolves those generic icons).

Today icons
Mike,
I don't' think that this problem is related with your update but with something else. I first started noticing the "default icons" about a week after I installed the new ROM update. If I would soft reset, it wouldn't bring anything back. The only way that I could get the icons back to normal was to remove and then add them in the "Menu" properties. Now... -The icons are gone again. (These all point to programs that I am running on my memory card.) -None of the programs will start that reside on the memory card. -I have a new folder in Explorer called "Memory Card2" that is truly pointing to my card. -I still have the "Memory Card" folder as well in there but the only contents of it are my email attachments. It appears that something changed the name of the card??? I don't have a clue! The only thing that I can think of that I installed before I started noticing this is SPB Backup. I'm stumped! I guess the good news is that it's not related to your beta! mherald81... What do you have installed? I am wondering if it's just a 3rd party program issue?? Thank all! |

Oh yea..
Not at all related to your beta, which BTW I have not had a chance to ask you for the PW yet.. If you could be so kind, I would really appreciate it!
I think that I can chalk this one up to something funky with the memory card. I deleted the "folder" called "Memory Card" and did a soft reset. All is well with my card now except the missing icons in the Start menu. Thanks again Mike! |

Mike,
Can you add the following registry hacks? 1. Add disconnect and online time in the bubble. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Phone] "Flags2"=dword:00000000 = no button disconect in con. buble. "Flags2"=dword:00000008 = button disconect on con. buble. "Flags2"=dword:00000010 = button disconect and time con. on buble conection (hex) I did 0x10. (Make sure you set HEX 0x10.. 16 decimal). 2.No Sent SMS Message HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox Next, click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key Name the New Key as "Settings" Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1 3. Unlock, unhide and rename extendend_rom I normally rename the extended rom to Storage. Not sure what other peope prefer. Thanks |

Mike,
On further testing in follow-up to my post on page5. Re-adding the wireless key into the registry did return my start menu icons back to normal without anymore of those default dos-like ones. I'm at a loss for what the heck that non-defined registry key is related to that it'd cause that problem for me. On top of which still haven't been able to resolve why if I add those bunch of extra today screen plugins it just hides everything but the date part. (is it possible in editing somewhere that the today screen scrolling ability was disabled to where it might just not show anything? Random thought that might explain this). |
