Do you also know the link for the stock Verizon WM5 ROM for a XV6700? I want to upgrade mine but I want to have a fallback position before I do.
Just because you are paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you. |

For my device, an XV6700 Verizon, I had to use EXE in the following zip to return to WM5:
http://www.utstarcom.com/pcd/downloa...700%20AKU3.zip Ther previously mentioned link would not install into the device. Kurt |

That's the verizon 3.3 update (with the new bootloader). For most of us, going "back" to WM5 would not include that version unless we planned to never again flash a cooked rom. Lightbiter's link was to the older AKU2 stock Verizon rom - that's the same one I would have suggested.

One other detail as well. This unit was a replacement (refurbished I believe) from Asurion and I did notice that when it booted up there was a different Windows Mobile splash screen than my previous XV6700. This one has a line "Direct Push Technology" that the other did not. Perhaps there is something newer (extROM) in there that caused this. That is a SWAG on my part as I am very new to this stuff. Anyway, this unit is on its way back because the joystick is a bit frelled, the slightest tough on it in any direction results in an Activate Key click and there is no distinct click felt when pushing in on the stick (basically the joystick is unuseable.) Since this was the second call on this claim and they have no new 6700's to send me I will be getting a XV6800 as a replacement. I am not quite sure how I feel about that yet though as there seems to be much more stuff out here for the XV6700 than for the XV6800 but time will tell. Thanks for the feedback and hoping I can get better with this dren and be more of a contributor in the future. It is a bit overwhelming at first. |

The 6800 is nipping at the 6700's heals. In many respects, it's currently better than the 6700.
In order to use the AKU 2 stuff, you'll have to revert your bootloader - you have a newer 2.04/2.05 bootloader presently. |
