I just followed the instructions on that page and setup my CallWave voicemail box. Works pretty well. I called myself and left a message. Within one minute I had an email with a crude attempt at translating my message to text, with the audio of the message attached as an .mp3. Pretty impressive.

Not really. SpinVox will convert your speech to text and then send it where you wish. CallWave is more of a voicemail box. Your callers call your cell phone, and instead of going to Sprint's voicemail, they go to your CallWave voicemail box. CallWave's software then does a crude speech to text and send you the message via email with the audio attached as an .mp3 and the text as the body of the email. (That's how I have mine setup, there are other options.)

Also, the issue of not being in digital coverage (EV-DO coverage) you would not get the MMS text with the .mp3 attached, corret? Does CallWave have options for say setting only to recieve the txt and not the .mp3? Or a better option (not sure if this is possible) but could it try to send you both the text portion and .mp3 file and if your not in digital coverage, just not get the .mp3 attachment? I ask cause this would be a huge deal for my company. We currently use a crude PBX system with a MS Communications Server 2007 setup that does this, but we have issues when the user is not in digital coverage (no EV-DO coverage).

The Tech I spoke to last did not know this was an option. (which doesn't surprise me at all) |

According to my account this is not costing me anything. Its included in my monthly price I surmise. If you have an account to VZW take a look at the included options. Mine was listed there.

Another thing I've discovered that I like about having CallWave as my voicemail is that I can now tell if I have more than one voicemail. Sprint sends out one notification when you get your first voicemail. If you don't listen to it, and more voicemails come in, you get no additional notifications. Still shows you have one voicemail. With CallWave, you get an email/text message for every voicemail.

I'm doing the same thing using my asterisk server to take my messages and emailing it to me with an attachment for free. But my PPC6800 won't open the .wav attachment for security reason. How do I get around that?

callwave has a free plan and a pay plan. the pay plan just adds the ability to screen voicemails as they are being left, and the ability to transfer the call to another number. I'm debating weather to use the free call wave or grand central. has anyone tried both? which one is better?
