It is a known issue with the phone losing or not getting data connection. Check your software ver on the phone you have a few options go with there new update on utstar.com for the phone or go with windows mobile 6. I havent had the issue in a while. good luck let me know if that works. Verizon may not help you if you have a post pay phone on a prepay account. The error codes I would get was error 37 illroance IP address followed by error code 3

I did 10mins if searching and returned 1 post with nothing of value... Perhaps you could do a search and verify this and if your results are different please provide the search terms so that I can understand how our search does not work.
That being said, I get this error occasionally as I live in an area with mixed 1x and EVDO.. I have also gotten this error repeatedly due to the provisioning of an expired promotional data plan by an idiot at VZW. Because of this I lost total data connectivity even with the right unlimited plan provisioned. I kept recieving this error over and over when I tried to sync with exchange or browse the web in PIE. This was fixed by a level 3 tech named Keith, who contacted me after the VZW rep said that a higher level tech would contact me the following monring (I made the original call during non-standard business hours). Do not pay insurance to replace your phone if it's under warranty. This is their problem not yours... Tell the tech that you know this can be fixed with a reset at the switch level in their system. They should put you on hold while they fumble about and talk to there higher level techs. Also you can try this if you get the error occasionally since it can be very annoying. Use a reg editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\PhoneExt Create a new DWORD Item named HiddenMIPError Set HiddenMIPError = 1 After that do a soft reset a few mins later to make sure the reg edit stays after the soft reset. biglcny,
I agree with fitbryan that the "Error Code 37" issue is a well-covered topic, especially on the general purpose boards including pdaphonehome and howardforums. Simply Googling "error code 37" will highlight most of the relevant threads on the first two pages of hits (535 hits total). Google is a great tool - "do a search" implies use it.

Arch,
You're right this isn't high school..... I still think its reasonable to expect you to do your research - keeping in mind that ppcgeeks is not the center of all knowledge and doesn't claim to be. Fitbryan was at the center of a long thread on error code 37 a year and a half ago. The fact that it was on pdaphonehome doesn't obligate him (or anyone else) to repeat or summarize that discussion - that's your job. Here's the thread in case you hadn't seen it. http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/p...p-occured.html HowardForums also had few: http://www.howardforums.com/search.p...20code%2037%22 The gist is that this error code is the Apache's way of telling you that the network rejected your new EVDO logon. For most people it's an occasional annoyance - the phone will keep trying until it succeeds. On a positive note, I re-read your posts and agree that the key issue is the pre-paid plan. The best information related to that still seems to be at HoFo - "Wireless" is the man - running a XV6700 with unlimited data for $.99/day, and sometimes free. According to this thread, http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1254608, Verizon just clamped down on "smartphone" use on the prepaid plan in the last few days. According to Wireless, "The party's over". This may be related to your problem. Good luck resolving. Please post back your experience. tmb |
