I owned 6700 for 2 years. Then picked up a mogul. I must say the mogul wins hands down. These were the keys why I kept the mogul.
Alot lighter. Alot slimmer. More modern look. Giant antenna gone. Spring loaded keyboard Keyboard light sensor. Keyboard backlight more even. Brighter screen. Better joystick. Only i hate about the mogul is t little ram.But you can manage it. |

I owned a 6700 for a couple of years and loved it. I modded it out pretty heavily. But I must say that the 6800 is a lot better. Being that I had my 6700 so modded with WM6 and everything, of course the functioning is very similar to me. The new sleeker design, and the lack of the bulky antenna is what really does it for me. I also like the button setup better on the 6800. Once HTC gets the ROM situation taken care of I'm pretty sure the 6800 will even be that much better. *fingers crossed*

Had both from Alltel... the 6700 for two years and when my contract was up in September I moved up to the 6800.
I loved my 6700, but the 6800 is just a better machine hardwarewise. HTC really learned a lot from the 6700 and made the necessary improvements. For me, the biggest difference is battery life... my incredibly tweaked 6700 with various custom ROMs) couldn't even come close to my 6800. I regularly go 30-35 hours without needing a charge. And as wonderful as Helmi_c's WM5 and WM6 ROMs were, the fact is that the Qualcomm MSM7500 processor in the 6800 is just more efficient than the MSM6500 in the 6700. I run acbPowerMeter and see it drawing just over 20mA at idle... where I never was able to get the 6700 much below 80mA. The other important difference (I don't honestly care about the antenna and modern look and all that... I'm all about usability) is the vastly increased storage memory (64MB vs 256MB). Where the 6700 would typically have around 43MB free for program installs after a hard reset, the 6700 has around 150MB. Again, it's hardware... can't fix it with a custom ROM, though the kitchens help with the 6700's memory, they can't manufacture memory that isn't there. If my only choice was the 6700, I'd gladly take it... but if you have a choice, the 6800 is an honestly improved phone. Only thing that would have made the 6800 better, as mentioned above, is if they would have squeezed 128MB of RAM into it You are still stuck with 64MB, just like the 6700. You do run out just as fast. |

I've used both and I agree that the 6800 is much better. On top of the other improvements that everyone else has listed, I'll add/elaborate on these:
- Keyboard layout: the numbers are in a phone layout and it's possible to dial with the keyboard! - Keyboard lights: there are lights that indicate if caps or function lock are turned on. - Screen: the screen is much better, and it feels nicer to touch a stylus to. |

I'm gonna hold on to the 6700 a little longer... +1 to all of the guys the worked on the WM6 ROM for the Apache. My friend has a 6700 and he refuses to believe that this phone can be flashed to WM6. He also doesn't believe that I can watch youtube on my phone. He's missing out!
I'm not in any rush especially considering the fact that there may still be firmware issues to work out on the 6800. Visibly the 6800 looks better than the 6700 (duh!). The Mogul is also hovering in the $300-$350 price range which is a tad too high for my taste. Two of my coworkers went from flip phones to the Mogul and they absolutely love it! I will see if I can get a deal on a Mogul after the Holiday season... Regards Last edited by geesosa73; 11-26-2007 at 11:55 PM. |

You got a good deal on your apache too. I just sold a 6700 on ebay last week for $210 and it was bought via buy it now almost instantly after putting it up for sale.

I would wait there are still a few bugs with 6800. I am waiting to see what bugs it has first. When my co worker first saw the 6800 for verizon. He said he went to outlook then to a game and the phone frozen. Soft reset was completed then it didnt get passed the logo, before they had to do a master(hard) reset. I will wait. The good thing about verizon they do give you 30 days to try the phone out if you purchase it from them.
