Just picked up a Verizon XV6700. Told Verizon to FORGET the data plan.
I can Wi-Fi onto my home server as well as Panera. I SEE others when I switch on in other paces but most are PROTECTED. But using the wifi works just fine. Don't NEED no Verizon Data plan unless you are looking for for PUSH email service. HTH

im mostly gona use wifi at home, school, and during my weekly meetings with clients which are mostly at coffee shops that offer free wifi and if its not free a restarurant/store nearby offers free wifi so i can just tap into that
we have wifi at school and at home so i really dont need the data plan the only reason why i would need a data plan is maybe to use maps if i get lost somewhere but i wouldnt even need it then cuz i have MS streets and tips which comes with a copy of PocketStreets which works just like google maps but doesnt require an internet connection to work
