what does your memory turn out to be after a fresh install? (storage and program)
and also what do you install typically on top of that -- (like HTC stuff)
can we get a list of what's included on ver. 8? verizon specific is one of the choices, i assume?
You can find HTC home plugin on xda-developers in .cab form.

Pagepool size determines the size of the pagepool
pagepool is a cache for executable program. The more software you tend to run, the larger you want your pagepool. The downside is that it takes away from program space. You'll know when you don't have enough pagepool - you get all kinds of flaky errors/problems that a reset seems to cure, temporarily.

I think Rob said that Ver 8 was truly going to be Clean & Simple - minimum extra crap. Just the basics of WM6 + a few tweaks and obligatory add-ons. If you habitually/want to install a bunch of stuff on your phone beyond basic WM6, you should consider using the kitchen instead of a C&S rom. C&S Roms are supposed to optimize stability by sacrificing features - if you're adding features, your defeating the whole point of C&S.

I am also getting the error on restart SDDAEMON.EXE unable to load. Also, I cannot start my contacts. In my programs, I have Contacts and Contacts (1). Same for Calendar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly, this is really going to be the bare minimum in R8, which is actually a good thing... for the C&S fans of course. But like gguruusa said, if you want a bunch of stuff beyond the WM6 basics pre-loaded on your device then go ahead and use the kitchen.

Would be interested in trying out this ROM, where can I download?

Have tried a few varieties of WM6 ROM pre-cooked and using kitchen and keep encountering very little program memory available on my XV6700 when all's said and done. Under WM5 Program Memory ran in the high 50% used range, under WM6 I'm running high 60's, with frequent spikes to 70+% used. System seems fine overall, but would rather have more program memory availalbe.

Thanks again for a great ROM.
Argh, sorry, didn't know you could use the search function in Threads! That said, does anyone know how I can go about finding this registry and deleting it?

Thanks!

Hello everyone,I haven't been around for a while however I do have some good news for my ROM users, and that is I will be releasing build 8 soon.I know that I mentioned a 100% stock ROM a few posts ago however I decided not to go for it. The HTC Home plugin, Audio Manager, MMS, ect. are just to big to install into program memory afterwards, so I kept them in the ROM. So what I did do in build 8 is re-standardized the directory structure, removed some 3rd party apps, fixed the HTC Home weather issue, fixed slow scrolling in PIE, returned the dialer to WM6 stock, added new sounds and changed default sounds, and more. I also gave it a 6mb pagepool, and this will give you a little more program memory.Anyway, it is still in testing and I will release it as soon as I can. Thank you all for your support!

Hii Rob,

I am in Canada with Telus as my provider and I was wondering what problems I will come across flashing the ROM to the generic you have for the PPC-6700?

Well, you will come across no problems as far as I am aware of. Of course you will have to install MMS if you use it, and set up your data conenction manually, but that's about it.
A .cab file for MMS should be on your device in the extended ROM, just install it after you flash to the generic WM6. Setting up your data connection is as simple as creating a new network connection and having it dial the number designated by your carrier to access the data network.
Also, back up all of your information before you flash any sort of ROM to your device. Everything will be erased and will need to be restored after upgrading.
Well, I hope this helps. You can also always go back to your carrier stock ROM if things don't work out. Send me a PM or post here if you need any more help.
