GameDoctor, I really appreciate you jumping on the boat! Much appreciated! Torx, I knew you would be right here man. Well said bro! Daveedem, wow... finally somebody gets it. The part about the MS licensing policy... you said it for me! That is the truest of things and everybody needs to realize that. Plus, if MS really cracked down... none of this would be going on, period. Quote:

hey. i think this version rocks... except one thing. has anyone else tried using FlexMail? I used it on the original helmi release and functionally, it worked fine but was slow. i tried it on this build and it responds much faster, but now it is functionally flakey. flexmail is supposed to be able to "take over" as default mail and SMS. it did do that, but now the phone periodically gives me the original default app or the flexmail app. sometimes, i get two indicators of a text message (one from each app). this never happened before. could you look into this strangeness?

To get things back on track...

I had to hard reset my device this morning. Several soft resets froze up on my Today screen. That's the first time I've ever had to do that. If it happens again, I will try to start looking for a pattern. As for issue "F", it appears to me that the default File Explorer has changed in v4 from what it was in v2. The one in v2 was similar to Resco, but not quite (Resco was also installed, I think). The one in v4 appears to be the same thing I had in WM5. Or am I missing something?

Ok.... I'm now on V4.
I don't see the my documents on the start menu either. I tried messing around with the registry and the start menu and haven't had any luck yet, but I'm sure you can get it back on the menu from there. Although there may be a cleaner way to do it. I was trying to stay away from WA2 and WAD (yah I'm a girl - I like the iphone theme) so I thought I'd try Grumps NoWAD iphone theme, but the damn thing kept locking up my device. While it's cool, and I like some of the icons, I like the interactive nature of Lazyboy's theme. So Grump -- props to you, I am gonna use some of your icons. I'm going to try and get VSBeta 2008 and some emulators running today so I can try and get the iphone theme ported to WA3. That'll be interesting. If you have any experience with that --- let me know. I know you can't do ROM's with it, but apps should be a different story. I just don't want to HS my device trying stuff out. CJB --- As for #G. I'm using PC 5.07 Build 966 --- thus far I've not had any lock up issues with it. Did you use the VistaRUU workaround? I think I saw you were using Vista. I'm on a vista box and haven't had any issues connecting. HOWEVER, I have had some customers using one of our pps on various WM5 devices and both in XP and Vista there are some weird variances wth having to connect and disconnect the devices numerous times to get active sync to recognize the device. No AS recognize no PC working. I also can't remember, but I know that I've seen a pop up with PC that indicates using an alternative method of connecting. Did you try that? For D -- not sure that is in the ROM as I don't have those names i my HTC home. BUT... now that I think about it... I did sync right after without looking at it, so... nope.. scratch that thought... I don't have them as contacts on my PC. WT -- I'd lean to PocketPlus. Try uninstalling that and see if you get any stability. While a great program, I've seen it use a fair amount of memory.

If your device continues to freeze unexpectedly, ect. Try running it without 3rd party apps for a while and see if that helps. Could be a conflict with another program. Quote:
Yep, the file explorer in Helmi's, and my v.1 was not default(although it tricked me for a while, I thought MS finally wised up and gave us a file explorer worth using). however, it was not stock and that was my main intention in my build 4. I wanted to put out a ROM as if it came straight from an OEM HTC device.. or as close as possible. Last edited by robmayer; 10-25-2007 at 12:02 PM. |

robmayer. you didnt answer my question... Im assumeing that you know what you have changed or left out of the original version that you worked with. I know you said its a clean rom but so was the one that came on my phone and it still locked up before. so do you have any idea what you have changed to cause the phone not to lock up anymore.
Im not talking about add'ons or extra software. just straight up roms yours vs colonial vs sprint_htc rom |
