A couple times this has meant that the person on the other end is already disconnected. I've used stock Sprint ROM's, and a few different WM5 kitchens and have never had this problem. I've used the WM6 for a little over a week and have had this problem probably about once per day (receiving 10 - 15 calls per day). Anyone else having this problem? Any known fixes? Thanks!

I've seen this happen occasionally. It's happened a lot less since I uninstalled phoneAlarm. It's almost always when the device is asleep. And it was usually more like 20-30 seconds if I was lucky. Pre-uninstall of pA, it sometimes took a few minutes!

This may have been talked about already, but whenever I have any type of media with audio in it (videos, ringtones, mp3s) and i happen to touch the screen, it makes a weird noise and if you hold the stylus down on the screen it actually slows the entire audio track down until you let up! pretty weird.

ok, I've got a really annoying problem that started when I jumped to wm6 on my apache/6700. I've looked around for an answer to this but didn't find anything...I didn't have this issue when running 3.5

When using the built in "pocket internet explorer", for some wierd reason when using my EVDO data connection, I can't open up the site msnbc.com, and I always get the error, "the page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost".

Keep in mind that ALL other sites open JUST FINE, for example news.google.com opens ok. Even large sites like espn.com work, as well as the smaller mobile version of espn.

Now here is the wierd thing, if I connect via WIFI, then the msnbc.com site loads just fine. ALSO, if I cradle my device (and it connects via my "mobile device center" to my PC), the site, msnbc.com, also opens just fine (as I think the apache then uses the internet connection from my PC).

Oddly enough, msnbc.com DOES open using using DEEPFISH over EVDO, so I am really suspecting this is a pocket IE issue.

Somehow whenever the apache tries to "open" the msnbc.com site via EVDO using pocket IE, it just barfs and gives the error message i mentioned above. It's so strange that this one specific site make the 6700 go bonkers...

Any suggestions.....?

Soft reset; Phone ON; Today Screen with Dialer never opened: 1.5 rings before the phone rings. (So the answer screen loads pretty quick with the phone ON.)
Phone ON: Dialer Open: 1.5 rings to start ringing.
Phone turned OFF with Dialer still on screen: 1.75 rings to power up and ring. :-) (So the Dialer being on speeds loading of the answer screen? Why? The phone is on even when the screen is off.)
Phone turned OFF after Dialer manually closed (showing Today Screen): 1.5 rings to power up, 2.5 more rings to start ringing. Total: 4 rings to start ringing.:(
Manual (green phone button) load of dialer is less than 1 second.:scratch:So why does the dialer being off double the delay even though the dialer does not have to be on before the answer screen and ring comes up?

I am hoping this will trigger genius into action… Anybody?... or there may be dialers that work faster or don’t slow things down so much?

Well, maybe I was right about the dialer. Since uninstalling BlueFrog Big Button Dialer did not fix the ring delay, I reinstalled it. Now 2 rings max!! Great. So try reinstalling the dialer for delayed ring times?

I tested this, and found that it took much longer than usual to load the page. It did, however, finally load. About 10s into "Locating" http://msnbc.com/, the data connection arrows went gray. About 10s later, the arrows went white again, and the page loaded. I did noticed that the URL changed from http://msnbc.com/ to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/.

I restarted IE and entered http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ instead of http://msnbc.com/ and it popped right up. Looks like it has issues resolving the name. The main difference between WM6 and most 3.5 ROMs is that the DNS addresses have been changed from "Use Server Assigned Addresses" to the OpenDNS addresses found at http://www.opendns.com/

For shits and giggles, I reset the DNS setting to "User Server Assigned Addresses" and then tried opening http://msnbc.com/ and voila...it worked like a charm.

Please test the following and report back:

1) Try opening http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ and record your findings
2) Go to Start > Settings > System > Connections > Connections > Manage Existing Connections > Edit (Sprint PCS Vision). Tap Next until you reach the user name/password screen, then tap Advanced. Tap the Servers tab, and select "Use server-assigned addresses." Accept changes, restart IE, clear the cache in Tools > Options > Memory
3) Try opening http://msnbc.com/ and record your findings
4) Post back here and let me know what you found out.

<edit>
I may have been barking up the wrong tree. The reason Deepfish doesn't have a problem is because it farms out everything to remote servers (thanks luv2chill) and just sends your phone an image of the site. Here's something else to try...install Opera Mobile and try loading msnbc.com. Does it come up? Also, follow step 2 above, then select "Use Specific Server address." Plug in these values for DNS and Alt DNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Once you have the new addresses in, accept the changes, restart IE, clear your cache, then try to open msnbc.com. Any luck?

Brightedge,

Sorry for reporting back so late, I was out of town. Unfortunatly none of your suggestions have helped and it appears that the issue is completly random. Sometimes the site opens, and sometimes it does not. I have very good signal strength by the way.

Here were my steps after I read your ideas:

1. I tried the full domain name like you suggested http://www.msnbc.msn.com, no luck and did not open

2. When I loaded helmi's wm6 I did not have the open DNS servers like you mentioned. My vision connection was like it was before and had "Use server-assigned addresses". So this step was nullified.

I went ahead and tried to manually enter in the DNS servers you gave me, then hit ok, soft reset and still no go. Other sites opened with the manualy DNS servers, but not msnbc.com or any variant of it.

3. I tried http://msnbc.com and no luck, same error as before "the page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost".

4. I want to point out that the browser DOES say "opening" but then barfs after that. Again the site opens on WIFI and when cradeled to my PC

5. Ideally I want to stick with pocket IE rather than loading opera, so I am hoping to find a way to solve this mystery

6. I did clear my browser cache in each step like you told me to try, but no luck

After a quick search I seem to be the only one having this problem. My 6700 has suddenly started giving me very low battery notifications. I have two brand new batteries that I have been using for several weeks with no problems. I have tried both after fully charging them in a separate charger. I no longer have a battery icon in the top right corner. The external power icon is there at all times. In the bettery application is says Main Battery: Unknown. I have also has a couple lock ups since this problem began. This morning I found the phone had frozen in the middle of the night. A soft reset brought it back to life. I have tried soft & hard resetting. I have disabled the HTC Home Plug-in. I am beginning to think it's a hardware problem. I am using an aftermarket battery but it worked fine for several weeks before this happened. I guess I could survive without the battery indicator but I would want to supress the notifications. Any help would be appreciated!

UPDATE: Same problem after re-installing the original battery

take it in, mine did that and it was because a contact inside came loose (at least that is what they think).

An old problem I was having with this ROM is that when I needed to soft reset, the phone would hang at the PIN login screen for well over a minute. I saw no reason for the phone to do that, but that's what it was doing. Today I ran touch.cab for the dialer (found on this site) and that problem has completely gone away! When I soft reset, the phone goes straight to the desktop with minimal delay (as it was before WM6).

Confused, but still glad the problem is fixed! Hope this helps someone.

Phone Locks...but not the volume

I'm running Helmi's WM6 and I've just noticed that when i lock my phone I can still adjust the volume using the external volume rocker. This is a big problem since I put my phone in my pocket. Any thoughts on how to get the volume to lock along with the rest of the phone or how to disable the volume rocker all together?

Thanks,
josh
