I started this thread so we can start collaborating and fixing bugs.

1. *********Word Completion Issues************

2. *************WPA-PSK TKIP Workaround thanks to Member nico4k*************

I FOUND A WAY TO FOR THE WIFI TO WORK WITH WPA-PSK TKIP.
THIS IS HOW I DID IT: (i recommend to soft reset your device before you try this to ensure success chances)

1. TURN YOUR WI-FI ON. THEN CONNECT TO YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK (ENTER YOUR WPA KEY ETC).

2. LE THE WI-FI DO IT'S THING FOR ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS. (IN THE MEANTIME GO TO THE COMM MANAGER)

3. NOW TURN THE WI-FI OFF (WAIT 2 SECONDS) AND TURN IT BACK ON. WALA, YOU SHOULD CONNECT AUTOMATICALLY RIGHT-AWAY (AFTER A FEW SECONDS) TO THE WI-FI YOU JUST CONFIGURED.

(THIS EVEN WORKS WHEN THE PHONE GOES TO SLEEP MODE, THE WIFI RECONNECTS WITHOUT ANY ISSUES)

3. ******Built in phone lock issues********

I myself had the issue of if you enable the built in phone lock or use exchange with forced phone lock policy, after almost every soft boot, the phone will lock up at the lock number pad. Well I don't have a total fix but this worked for me. Must be fast on your fingers and as soon as the lockpad comes up dial in your code and go for the unlock softkey. It will get you through.
I have also noticed if you wait after the soft reset and when bluetooth re connects to a paired headset, it will lock up on the lockpad. I have tried and removed phoneExt_service.dll from the registry and softbooted using shutxp and now the lockpad will not lock up on soft reset for me. But I am now having issues with the dialer. If anyone has any other input on this please pm me and I will gladly add it to this issue.

5. ***********Microsoft Voice Command v1.6.4622.0**********

ID Transfer is not working. Also VC dies intermittently and stops responding from the bluetooth paired headset. It and also causes the phone to lock up intermittently requiring a soft reset. I gave up on using this until the kitchen is released. If anyone has had better luck please let me know.

BTW Microsoft Voice Command is not freeware. It's not included in this rom. Please go and purchase your own copy.

6. ***********Phone Carrier Codes***************

None are working as of yet. If you need to update your roaming, search to forums on how to manually update it.

7. *************HTML Email***************

Works with any pop and imap and if using Microsoft Exchange, it will only work with Microsoft Exchange 2007. Sorry any older version of Exchange is all txt.

8. **************WM6 Internet Sharing********************

A bunch of people have reported this and there is a workaround. Disable Advanced Network Functionality un USB to PC in Settings. Soft Reset. Turn off bluetooth. Turn on Internet Sharing and plug phone in. This seems to do it every time.

there is some redundancy...
2 recorders (the new one doesn't seem as good as the old one...am I missing something here?)
2 calculators (the old calc gets its buttons kicked by the new calc)
2 internet browsers... IE and Deepfish... I already use PixelBrowser and Netfront, but that's just me.
2 File explorers... yeah, Resco is better and needs to be registered...
3 Modem Linking apps... I don't know enough on this to know the differences
3 Media Players... I suppose this is still necessary for functionalities/compatibilities.

UnlockExtendedRom... isn't it now unlocked by default? I didn't need to run this to use it as extra space on mine anyway, but maybe I just don't know something else this does.

Function to "Suggest Words" when entering text (default is now to suggest after entering SPACE, I just set it to be after 3 letters) btw- that can be fixed under "Global Options" within the Notes/Options Menu.

Edit- this only occurred while other apps were running in the background: (The sand game is cool, but it kicked some dirt in the eye of my little processor. Locked it up within minutes of playtime. Maybe we just need to learn how to play nicer in the sandbox, but it definitely can lock up the clockwork and is just asking for a cold boot.)

Also, YahooGo is for Yahoos. Is there a goog app out there for us Googlians?

Well, I was going to wait for the kitchen to be released, but I couldn't stand the suspense any more and had to upgrade. So far it is working GREAT, with one exception...

My only problem is that I could not get the WM6 version of the p@lm threaded SMS app to work. Text messaging works fine -- until I install that program and then the device won't send/receive texts at all. I realize this is probably an issue with the app, but others don't seem to be having this problem on other devices. I was wondering if anyone else has tried installing it and could report back.

Other than that, I can't wait for the kitchen... :D

When viewing a video fullscreen in Windows media player (also MobiTV) the screen doesn't goto landscape mode, so it makes viewing in fullscreen kinda point less. Using CorePlayer it shows just fine.

I love it, but just realized that it doesn't show who's sending the text message... Anyone else?

For those of you who are having the text messaging issues, did you let the carrier customizations run? I remember having this issue with a previous ROM, and what fixed it was to NOT let the carrier customization run.

Try hard resetting your phone, and when it prompts that it is going to start the customization in 3 seconds, do a soft reset and see if that works.

Just a note, that all of the customizations for your carrier are built into the ROM (assuming you installed the correct one for your carrier)

EMail error
 

When I setup my corporate email using POP3 access, I get the following error:
554 <blank@yahoo.com>: Relay access denied

The following recipients did not recieve the message:
blank@yahoo.com

I have checked all of the email settings and they are correct. The server does not require authorization for outgoing mail, but I tried with and without that setting checked and still had no luck.

I also noticed that there is not a voice dialing feature. This might just be something that MS took out, but I can't imagine why.

Other than that I love this new build I think helmi_C is some kind of PPC God. Thanks for all of the hard work.

@ RagingIdiot: This was just a test release for people to play with, hence all the duplicate types of applications for all users. Tried to accommodate as many people as possible without having them install a bunch of cabs. Ur ROM is also still unlocked from previous ROM flashes that you have done. This ROM does not touch ur extROM. That app is for ppl that havent done so previously. Yahoo Go is just a personal pref of Helmi, he uses it. ;-) Dont know of any google apps as of yet.

@ CafeteriaMan: Did you let your ext rom customize after you flashed the ROM (big No-No), also make sure to hard reset properly after you flash the ROM. I cannot duplicate your errors.

@ Hefman: Palm messaging was a realized problem before the release. Guess we should have mentioned that huh. It might be low level and this is just for apache users to know that wm6 is available for them. There is more and better to come from Helmi. we just want more ppl to test this on a wide arena so we can have better suggestions and results.

Working fine on mine so far..I miss a front screen battery meter so I tried to install Spb Mobile Shell 1.5. It installs fine but it interferes with HTC Home by putting itself above it on the today screen. When you go to settings to move it below it is greyed out. Gonna go look for the topbar batter meter now :-)

So far so good. No bugs from what I can tell. I have not installed any of my own applications as of yet though.

## Codes arent working

MSVoice Command no longer works using press of Button 5. [v1.6]
I "fixed" it by setting MSVC to Press/hold Button 5 and put record on regular press (since I never use that anyway).

Incorrect trident.
You need to set this reg key
HKLM\software\OEM\VoiceCommand
Path=""

Key value VoiceCommand needs to be created , and path is a string with no value.

First, I have to say thanks and what an incredible job all around - even this newbie. middle-aged woman could upgrade with the instructions! I haven't had that much fun staying up all night like last night in years. Very exciting. Okay, I've had two issues. One I'm sure there's a program for - I'm missing the voice dialer. I believe I read someone else had that issue also. If this helps, following the flash I did not allow the Verizon customizations to install. My bigger problem is that my messaging is reading the extended rom as my storage card, and with the little memory there, is creating havic with my wireless sync. I recall someone else also experienced this, but I couldn't find the post. Any suggestions,etc. as to thse issues?

when I finish a call I usually could hit the end call button to go back to the home screen, but all it does is kills the data connection and it stays in the phone app.

The one thing I'm not fond of is having Windows Live Search bundeled. If they update it, you now have to install it to another location as the one included is locked in the ROM and cannot be over written, effectivly wasting 2x the space.

Now, just waiting for the kitchen to be released so I can make my own rom.

Well, I can report that all the other apps I've installed are working flawlessly -- PocketBreeze, PhoneWeaver, Resco Photo Viewer, Inesoft Address Book, MSVC (other than the button 5 thing)...

I'll wait to hear more news about Palm SMS. The good news is that the WM6 messaging app seems to allow me to send SMS to email, which is one of the big plusses with the Palm app. That may be enough to keep me using this for a while.

You will need to hide the ext rom, for it to use your regular sd card to save attachments.
To do that change this reg entry using a reg editor and soft reset.

Voicedial was removed by helmi, personal pref (most users also), you will need MS Voice Command.

If your extended_rom is unhidden, this is the registry edit to re-hide it:

Make that reg change, and then soft reset, and extended_rom should be hidden again (but still unlocked) *unless the registry for that changed in WM6*

Just had my first problem. DSOD. Nothing installed on Storage, only other things I installed was VZ Wireless Sync, Memmaid, and MS Voice Command. I was however in the middle of a Pim backup when I left the 6700 for a bit, wonder if that had something to do with it.

go to settings/buttons then remap button 4 (press & hold) to comm mgr, it will work again.

here is my review so far.
smooth performance and so far very solid.

No remote desktop program.

Wlan probs connecting - bad key -don't think so!

Exchange:
contacts do not sync completely-have many fewer in ppc than outlook.
overnight they did update!
No option for Out office assistant or flagging messages. Supposed to be in wm6?
yes, using 07 exchange.

Htc home customizer does work!

Its nice that the keyboard stays up after selecting a predicted word.

Smartdial DOES work!

Html email!!!!

Pie seems to be much better!!!!!
But, why does the keyboard always pop up when switching to pie?

New file exploer is a plus!

So far so good!

I noticed however,

I do not have Voice Command

And I don't have a lot of sound notifications (I may be spoiled from using Wisbar Advance). Is there anyway to add sound? I do have sound for few things, but nothing when I click the start menu, or close a program, click on a softkey, for example.

Also, what are my options for 'uninstalling' some programs (like Deepfish, and a lot of the Resco programs)? I don't want those. Do I have to wait for a Kitchen?


I would also like to assing Button 5 to a specific application. Where do I put the application so it shows up in the buttons menu?

Im seeing the same thing when I stream tv to Windows Media...didnt experience this on helmi's 1.0.4 kitchen.

As this is supposed to be the bugs/patches thread, hopefully it will stay on topic. Some posts might best be placed as general questions in the forum.

With that being said, and although this isn't exactly a bug, it is likely undesirable by most - The IR beam is set to "on" by default.
Also-
No longer can use "advanced" setting in the standard Search program.

I just noticed I cannot send or receive SMS messages. I get an error.

TCPMP (Player) does not work in landscape mode. also having trouble playing orb stream from it. am reinstalling it over the top to see if that changes anything.

Well, so far my way works and yours doesn't for me.
To clarify... when I create the VoiceCommand key, I should leave the string blank or enter <Path=""> without the <>.
Neither worked for me.

Very smooth upgrade to WM6. I'm really liking it, especially the HTML email! Great job Helmi! Just wondering where Remote Desktop went. Any idea how to get this back in there?

you can install it from a cab. should be available via search. if not pm me and i can post it for you. I installed it via .cab and it is working fine.
