I know this is noob, but would someone mind telling me the procedure for doing this? This will be the first time I've upgraded this phone, and I don't wanna mess it up.

A few questions:

From what I understand, the phone needs to be connected via USB, and then run the upgrade from the PC. Does the phone need to be connected to Active Sync before I run the upgrade?

How do I determine the bootloader version?

Power + button 5 (above volume) gets you into bootloader mode?

I downloaded the generic one because none of the above seems for my company "movistar venezuela", ran once and says that rom is incompatible to upgrade, get the correct one, which of ones works on mine? heres some information:

I think smart dial do not work because of phone dialer chosen. Is there any possibility to change phone dialer with smart dialer in Reliance ROM?

just reporting in after playin with it for a few hours:

synchronized fine with AS
seems just as fast as AKU 3.5, if not, faster
Like the GUI
defintely like the improvement in messaging (html mail and what not)
don't think i'm going to buy resco explorer (file explorer is much improved)

-missing the little taskbar with the comm manager and screen rotate icons, etc (how do we bring that back)

installed the generic one, no lock ups..
I'm really satisfied, infact, I don't event want the kitchen anymore, I got everything I need in this rom..

I just crapped myself... this is awesome!

Update worked with Vista no problem. Before I was using virtualbox and XP to update but this worked natively in Vista.

Menu clickyness seems sluggish but this is only my initial observation. I needs more time to plays.

smooth performance and so far very solid.

No remote desktop program.

Wlan probs connecting - bad key -don't think so!

Exchange:
contacts do not sync completely-have many fewer in ppc than outlook.
No option for Out office assistant. Supposed to be in wm6?

Htc home customizer does work!

Its nice that the keyboard stays up after selecting a predicted word.

Smartdial DOES work!

Html email!!!!

Pie seems to be much better!!!!!
But, why does the keyboard always pop up when switching to pie?

New file exploer is a plus!

The new file explorer wont let me right click and "set as ringtone" ... other than that though it kicks freakin @ss!

One thing I have noticed is that when you click on full screen in Windows Media Player the video's don't play in landscape mode :/ which defeats the entire purpose of fullscreen.

This rom is amazingly fast (even more so than the 3.5 ones)

I've only run into one issue with the pin lock. After a soft reset, the screen takes an input pin but then the Unlock (both touch screen and sofkey) don't respond. Maybe it has something to do with screen alignment? Anyway I'll live w/o the pin for now.

Anyone else notice that received text messgages put the first word of the message where the reply-to number should go? Makes it much harder to just hit reply and send back a text. The callback number is as it should be. This is using the Sprint version.

Before I simply ditch the HTC Home plugin, can someone tell me where the [previously mentioned] HTC Home customizer is found? If I can tweak the settings, I might keep it...

Also, what's been the experience of people with the extROMs? I'd like to do what Kirvin did with the blank one if the needed customizations are in the ROM, but I don't want to lose my IOTA, time sync, auto email config, etc.
Will an extROM from an older ROM build work here? (I'd like to dig up my old PPCGeeks extROM.)

I am sorry if these 2 things have been asked before. I started reading this thread a couple of hours ago and my eyes have gotten pretty blurry. Does this update have the ext_rom unlocked or do I need to do that myself? Also If i use the sprint update will I have to input the sprint information again after the update(i.e. account info to get back on the sprint network again.)?
