Now computer see's the 6700 as an unknown device with the other USB connections. When trying to run any utility connection error 201 Device not detected. For the life of me I can not get this vista machine to recognize device so it can continue w/ BL. Plz help

Hey dudes it looks like you guys are not getting response because everybody moved onto the new devices.
I still love my 6700 even with all the dust on it from non-use.
To answer your question, most likely you are experiencing this issue is because you need to check off the OEM in the kitchen that says something like "SDHC Card Support".
I havent updated my kitchen so I'm not shure the OEM name.

I been thru this nightmare many, many times.
Hopefully, you will see a folder in called "BuildOS RUU" in your my documents folder.
in there you will double click the "ROMUpgradeUt.exe" file.
It should recognize here when the kitchen itself cannot get it done.
Hope that helps & goodluck to all as I have moved on from the 6700 staight to the TouchPro.

When upgrading to 21042 the Device is stuck in the bootspash. I tried using the 21042 build to flash my Victor as well, same problem. Is this a known issue with the new build?

We'll look into it. Could be a typo in the release, could be an OEM you are including.

I tried a clean flash, with no OEM's just to test the problem, same issue. Thanks for looking into it and I am soooooooo excited to see a 21000+ build for my favorite kitchen! You guys at PPCKitchen do great work!

Edit. Un-installed and re-installed BuildOS, same issue is still present

Re: WM6.1 build 21042 kitchen

Thanks again for all your hard work. Couple of questions:
- to build a rom for the Apache doe you need both PPCkitchen_OEM.rar & the VGA version, as well as all the files under 21042?
- what has happened to Helmi are they still around, or is he with Wally
- is there anywhere that lists the changes even roughly between this build and 20931

And a small feature request for Updater to not have to restart if download doesn't complete. I find if I download 4 files and 3 have completed, it has to start all over again.

Once again keep up the great work!

No. Apache is QVGA...you don't need any VGA stuff. If you use Updater, you'll get what you need where you need it.

He stops in to say hi every once in awhile.

Probably, but you'd have to pry it out of Microsoft.

It's capable of doing file recovery. We'll look at enabling it again at some point in the future.

in testing when i used 21040 i used to get random beeps (notify me: when the sd card was removed) and i used to get it alot on damn near every rom ive cooked seince 20755 ive goteen used to the noise it made then i cooked 21042 and i havent had a random beep yet its stable fast and very nice so far

Re: WM6.1 build 21042 kitchen

How different is this compared to the 21040 build that was available as a drop in kitchen? Just wondering because I tried building with all of the same items in my selections and got a build error that the ROM was to big, and I've used the same selections for all builds from 20931 and haven't had a problem until now.

Re: WM6.1 build 21042 kitchen

Might be a bug but I just tried to build a few roms and on the 3rd build Buildos said it ran out of memory, when I looked under task manager it was using just under 1GB,when I closed it down, it released the memory and is working using 240kb to build first rom.

I also left my phone on and it then put it into bootloader and then failed. So I left it in bootloader then it worked ok.

There are a couple of things that might consume memory like that, one being .Net's memory manager. The other potential is using Cancel. It was never working "using 240kb" - it takes 150MB to even think about building a rom (and that's in minimal mode). We'll take a peek at it, however.

Hence, why we recommend you put the phone in bootloader before you flash.

It should have been 240Mb

Have been using and based on initial speed this is a must do upgrade for the Apache, so far everything works, much faster and more responsive...and I haven't found a bug. Congrats to all that worked on this.

Just when I thought I should upgrade my Apache you give me another reason to hold off :headbang:

Speaking of reasons to hold off upgrading looks like 21051 has been loaded, although it's not showing in updater yet...gguruusa you and the rest of the team are legends just when I was loving 21042 another early xmas present.

PS Why is there a delay in files appearing in updater...not that I'm complaining, just curious

A lot more effort is needed to configure updater.

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

Had this "problem" on the 6.1 build last year (?) too, but I just don't have any space.

In the kitchen, can't tell how big the individual modules are so I've gone through 17 build attempts (so far) and over two hours trying to get the thing pared down enough to load.

Ya'll got such nice and shiny things in the kitchen, and can't hardly load a one of them. Heck, my first build attempt reported "Compiled Size (0x7760000) greater than Max Rom Size (0x38e5800). Remove 0x3e7a800 bytes (65513472 bytes)." Just to show you how much of the cool stuff I wanted.

I'm not sure what's up, or if it would just be a nice feature to have something in the status bar counting how much space you have to play with, keeping you updated on how much is left or how much you are over by after each checkbox (and all modules listing their size).

EDIT:
Managed to get some basic things in:
FdcSoft PIM Backup
ExtRom Unlock
Comm Manager (10-Button)(APACHE ONLY)
Office Word
HTC Camera
sMMS Picture Mail
Touch Dialer
HTC Smartdialing
Inbox Menu Extensibility (Mark All As Read/Delete All)
B2A2DP tweaks
SD and SDHC Card Support
FTC Touch Keyboard

Really want a calculator, Adobe PDF, Office Powerpoint, Resco Explorer 2008, Opera (any), and a different today screen but can't get a one of them (individually) to fit.

Might revert to 6.1 if I can't figure out how to pare down the base 6.5 ROM.

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

What bootloader version do you have? To me, that seems to be the only thing that should be holding you back. Here is a list of what I have built into my 6.5 ROM.

Windows 6.5 Widgets
Solitaire and Bubblebreaker
HTC Camera
SD Card Support
Comm Manager (10-Button) (APACHE ONLY)
GB-SOFT Tweak (Auto Disconnect Data Connection)
GSFinder+ (Dutty WM6 Explorer)
HTC Smartdialing
Esmertec Jbed Java
Live Search
NoData
PHM Reset
FdcSoft PIM Backup
Pocket RAR
Pocket Sudoku
Skinny Signal Bars
BL Milk Keyboard Skin
Cleartype On
VistaHide Battery Guage
WiFiFoFum
Advanced Task Manager
Arcsoft MMS
HTC Task Manager

Hi,

I have a UTStarcom Pocket PC (VX6700) on Bell Mobility in Canada. I would love to upgrade this to WM6. I would be very grateful if someone could post a link to the correct ROM file for this device. When the upgrade is performed is the Radio version automatically upgraded or is that something that needs to be done separately.

Many thanks in Advance

Richard

this thread is regarding the release of PPCKitchens 21501 base, I am not 100% on apache, but I think that bootloader or radio is not a requirement, I could be way off on that though, there are only 6.1 roms and up available anywhere these days, I don't think you will find a 6.0 rom anywhere but the archives. as far as the kitchen goes, it builds decent roms, only issue, is that the apache can't fit a whole lot into a rome due to small device capacity

imnuts 04-23-2009 05:51 AM

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

The radio will only upgrade when flashing the device if you have the radio upgrade file in with the RUU when you're flashing a new ROM to your device. If you're using the kitchen, you won't have any problems with this as only the new ROM is flashed.

Try deselecting one or two things and then reflashing your phone. Could be that you had just under the max allowed ROM size and it's causing problems.

I had same issue. I selected minimum option including windows 6.5 widget and 10 command wireless manager for apache. I use bootloader Rev v1.00 and RUU: NoID with Sprint Carrier. Do you know where the problem is?

Thanks for your help guys, I have the PPCKitchen application installed, I have had a play with it. Is it really as simple as starting a new project, choosing what you want in the ROM then building it & installing it? I have read in various places that you have to first put the device in bootloader mode, is this correct & is there any way of backing up my existing ROM in case I want to revert back to it.

I am a little nervous of making my pda a brick !!!!

Many thanks

Richard

It really is about as simple as you think. I always put my phone into bootloader mode before flashing it, though I think the RUU may be able to do it for you, not sure on that one. If you're currently running a stock ROM on your phone, you would be able to redownload it (there are links around for them) and flash it back to your phone. The other stuff on there (contacts, pictures, etc.) you should sync with your computer before flashing so that you have it all, and so that it can be put back on your phone with the new ROM. To save text messages and other non-activesync stuff, you can use PIMBackup to save it.

I just installed 6.5 21501 in my Apache. - Only one problem so far. I can't answer the phone with the device locked. The screen pops up showing that there is a call but the hard and soft 'Answer' buttons do not work. The hard 'Call End' button functions correctly -it silences the ring and routes the call to voicemail. The soft 'Ignore' button on the screen does not work.
Any ideas??

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

its funny on my apache i get the problem sporadically on all WM6.1 and 6.5 builds, worse is when its locked under 6.1 it will silently crash at random and when i get the call buttom problems i would say it would be at least 2 or 3 out of 5 calls sometimes better sometimes worse i stoped screen locking all together

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

Well I did it, cooked up a ROM based on WM6.5 with the Kitchen App, it was really easy. It only upgraded the OS ROM so I never even lost my settings for Bell. Is there any benefit upgrading the Radio as mine is currently 1.14?

Off to cook some more ROM'S !!!!

Is it just me, or does the Updater still download WM6.1? I did a fresh install, and I selected the last Build and the required files, but when B.OS came up, it only listed Device WM6.1 Apache and it only lists WM6.1 under the OS Drop-down menu.

I'm not one of the coders, but even though it says WM6.1, the latest build is definitely WM6.5. Just make sure to select the 21501 QVGA text file to base it off of.

Well... I gave up on 6.5. I'm back on 6.1 - Build 21042.6.1
I liked the new screens but I need to lock my phone to prevent inadvertent calls.. and you can't answer a call with the phone locked. The screen which pops up showing an incoming call blocks access to the 'Unlock' slider.
I'll stay on 6.1 until that bug is fixed.

I'm a 'Lurker' ??? That sounds sinister.. However, my wife agrees with my 'Reputation'.

You should look into S2U. This would be a better solution for the time being if you only had problems with the lock of 6.5.

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

Yes, the OS drop down still shows 6.1, but the OS that is flashed is WM6.5. I'm guessing that it's a bug with the config file for 21501 where it pulls that info from.
