I just cooked this and flashed it to the phone, including making the services.exe modification, and things are definitely flying now compared to Helmi's build... we'll see how it goes after I install a few things...

I am still not understanding why people are needing the OLD services.exe? I am keeping the one in this build and NOT having the same troubles that the version before it had. Don't get me wrong, if you are doing it just to be safe, be my guest... but I don't want to give LennySH the wrong idea that it is bugged. I can safely say that it is not bugged.

Get the same error. I also can't log into the kitchen at all. It says "log in failed for user 'pdaphonjunkie'. I also know another guy who has the same problem. For now I'm gonna have to stick with WM6 kitchen...:(

Hey guys, thanks for the update for the Apache. It is really quick!

However, i do seem to have one problem which I want to know if anyone else has.

When the phone is reset (ie normal reset or change of battery), all text messages get deleted. I have no idea why. Contacts and other info does not get deleted, only the text messages do. Is anyone else having the same problem?

More importantly, does anyone have a solution to the problem???!!!

Thanks!

Here is the testing I did today...

This morning I ran the updater.. I grabed the updated kitchen files from 9/25. (I wont get into what a pain that was) I remove my patch to 'services.exe' from the patches folder.

I proceed to install the same selections file from my last cooked rom from 2 weeks ago.

Welp, services.exe is back to taking 100% cpu. MSVC 1.6.19965 is broken. A bit frustrating but no worries. We march on around here, right? Right!!

I copy my selections file to a new test file, with ALL OEM's removed. Just the basics a clean phone would have. . .

Drat! services.exe still taking 100% cpu. I put back the services.exe patch. Dunno why others claim to be able to cook this rom and not have that service slow everything down. I sure can't.

ok. Next build just has MSVC 1.6.17913 added (a necessary tool in my world)... Services back to 0% and MSVC works just fine.

Thats enough for today. more to come.

I'm using my phone without the services.exe patch and the only time that my phone is slow is just after I wake it back up by pressing the power button. It takes a few seconds (5-10) and then it is perfectly fine. Once and a while, I'll have a slightly slow period when trying to do something after it's been on for a little bit, but that goes away after 2-3 seconds and is usually just after opening another program up.

Hey, I tried to use the BuildOS file, and it alerted me that a new version was available for the uploader and gave me the option to update. I did and I'm getting ERROR File PPC-BuildOS.exe not found.

When I tried to use the BuildOS without the update, it would not allow me to, saying that BuildOS Version BuildOS v.09.05.2 (9/08/2008) has expired.

I'm using Vista and normally, to get this program to run smoothly I have to run all apps as an admisistrator. I've tried it both ways (with and without).

Any Suggestions? I wanna get as much use out of this phone before I step up to the Touch Pro (which knowing Verizon will be another year)..lol

The BuildOS.msi Won't load;

"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package"

And the link to the installation instructions fails;

"HTTP 404 Not Found"

I notice others have posted with the same problem. I had the updater installed before and just haven't rebuilt in 2 months or so. So, when it wouldn't work I sought to install the new BuildOS.msi. That's not working.

Throw me a bone.. I'm in the dark here....

UPDATE:
The links in the first post are borked. Manual downloads work though.

While I haven't had the same experience (without the old services.exe all my builds were constantly slow), I'll just say that 5-10 seconds to get started and 2-3 seconds delay after running for a while isn't acceptable to mefor a phone device.
With this patch and this build I've got almost zero delay all the time.
