Re: Apache WM6.1 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19716 (Build 19716.1.0.0) - UPDATED 20080308

Hey guys, first time messing with an Apache for my mother-in-law. Just cooked her a ROM based off of Helmi's kitchen from the official PPCGeeks kitchen (normally do it for my Titan). After some trial-and-error getting the ROM size low enough, I got the phone working smoothly overall without trouble... except for the Contacts. When I try to open Contacts (the built-in one, no special versions), it appears in the title bar for second, along with its close button, and then disappears.

Her contacts (which I restored from a backup) are all there, as her Phone app's call history lists actual names for everything, but the Contact application simply won't load. I did a search on this, but didn't locate anything right off the bat. Hopefully I just didn't type the right term (I'll try some more), but since this isn't MY phone, I want to hopefully get help ASAP for her.

Thanks!

What did you put in there, for OEM's?
You didn't let it install the carrier customizations, after it booted the first time, did you?

I don't believe it did, as it never prompted me to do so and never restarted itself after its first boot.

I just hard reset it, which I'm suspecting may be related to the problems. When I hard reset it after flashing it, I didn't wait for the white screen and confirm the reset. It just reset on its own because I didn't hold it long enough. I've just completed the hard reset and Contacts currently works before restoring her data. The restore is going as I type this. So at this point it's either the lack of a hard reset, or the restore. We'll see in a few minutes.

EDIT: Crap, looks like it's the restore of the SPB Backup data. Now I have to figure out how to get around that. Might have to take her all the way back to the official ROM, restore the data, then back it up using a different process. *sigh*

I edited instead of replying. It does seem to be the restore of the PIM data from the SPB backup. I'm not sure what to do for her now. Guess I need to track down the WM5 ROM and take her back to that and try another backup applet. Grrr...

You have a bad OEM somewhere. Check your personal OEMs.

That was the problem. Took me forever to find the one little "=" sign that I left out. Got it working now. Thanks

You upgraded from WM5, yes? You'll have to restore the contacts by syncing or using something like PIMBackup (free, in the kitchen, .cab at xda-developers.com).

As a general rule, you shouldn't try to restore full backups across ROM versions. It's a bad idea, no matter what the product literature might say.

I'm having the G'Reloc error. uninstalled/reinstalled the entire kitchen and it is repeating. It builds until G'Reloc runs and then it says that G'Reloc EFOpenError: Cannot open file C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\hIq Inc\PPC-BuildOS\9.05.2.7Temp\temp\dump\.ROM\\S4294967295

I looked in the tools folder and there are 2 G'Reloc.exe files. Are there supposed to be 2?
