Bad news ... your fix doesn't seem to survive sliding the keyboard out and having the orientation automatically change, or a soft reset.

When playing a video in Media Player, if you switch to full screen, in WM6 it wouldn't rotate the screen automatically anymore like it used to in WM5. Instead, it would just maximize without using the entire screen. Manually rotating the screen or opening the keyboard so I could use the entire screen to watch video had been driving me insane.

Anyway, searched around here and other places for a fix, but couldn't find anything, so I started messing around, and I've got it figured out:

Make the following change to the registry:

Navigate to HKLM/System/GDI/Rotation
Edit the DWORD Value "LandscapeMode" Default value is 0
- If you set it to 1, screen will rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise when you hit the fullscreen button in Media Player.
- If you set it to 4, screen will rotate 90 degrees clockwise when you hit the fullscreen button in Media Player. This is my preferred setting because the screen rotates the same way it would if you were to slide out the keyboard.

Hope this helps someone besides myself who was annoyed with having to manually rotate the screen before starting a video.

Enjoy,
minazaki

Damn. You're right. I see what you mean about the soft resets, but not sure what you mean by "...survive sliding the keyboard out and having the orientation automatically change..."

Well, I'll keep trying, but maybe someone smarter than me can take us the rest of the way? There must be a way to make this registry change persist through soft resets and other events...

Maybe there is a way to edit the settings with oemizer prior to burning the ROM or putting in patches folder. I would think if the setting was part of the ROM it would stick. Just an idea. I am a dummy about the registry. I need to start tinkering and learn things about the registry. I know absolutly nothing about the registry on a PC or PPC.

Burning into a rom only makes registry settings survive hard resets. If you are having a problem with a setting changing after a soft reset, it's because an application is changing it.

Well, besides the soft reset, I can confirm sliding out the keyboard changes back to the screwy configuration.

What else might be doing it?

I use Micro SD with Mini SD adapter. When I boot my Apache it won't recognize the card but after removing and inserting it back, it starts to recognize the memory card. Any solution to my problem? Don't tell me to throw away my card and buy a new one.

More than likely you didn't specify your carrier in the customizations list, so when you first booted the carrier-specific customizations ran from the ExtRom and hosed your setup.

I've got the same problem. I've also got the problem where it doesn't notify me when I receive a text. I've got it set to play a sound and vibrate but it does neither. I did select my carrier... Bell... when I cooked the rom.

The weather will not display. Ive tried for almost every city given around the world.

when i click the weather icon from the today home, it says "Attemping to download Data" then after a while it says "unable to retrieve data for selected city. Select here to retry."

any guesses to what could be wrong?

One of the versions of HTC home had a problem with weather not working. Please post which build you are using. Also you may want to make sure you are connecting to the data network when it is trying to update. Sign on to internet just prior to trying the update so you know you connection is live, if that makes sense.

Let me short circuit that - if you find that your build is older than current one (12/17/07, I think), please download the current .rar and try again.
