Re: Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) - UPDATED 20071217

I don't know what causes it but I had to do the very same thing with my replacement phone earlier this week. As long as it works I am ok with it.

Got my first kitchen cooked and installed. Pretty cool although HTC Home sure takes up a lot of room with the billboard size clock! Can it be reduced?

Couple other quick questions:
1. Is there a way not to include the customizations from my carrier: Telus? I was using Sardinour's ROM and things worked well without anything from Telus.

2. Will I benefit from flashing my Radio (1.14 to 1.43)?

3. Is there a thread showing what people are installing and configuring their WM6 6700's?

the htc plugin cant be reduced (to the best of my knowledge), but there is a program called rltoday that is completely skinnable. there is a whole load of htc style skins on these forums, the rltoday site, and over at xda. i'm sure you can find one you like.

i thought that the kitchen flashed the extended rom blank. maybe with telus it's different. perhaps gguru or someone can shed more light on this.

there is a thread on the apache forums that has a list of what software ppl are using. theres also one by malatesta thats all ppl's today screens. do a search and you'll find them.

Anyone care to tackle Questions 1 & 2?:

Can't really answer number one, but from what I've read, number two is a hot debate. Some report issues or no noticeable improvement, some claim that they get 1 or 2 extra bars. I'm personally at 1.41 and didn't notice any glaring improvement, but didn't notice any issues either.

1) You need the customizations for your carrier - either by selecting your carrier in the kitchen, or letting customizations run if you're using a stock rom. If you don't want your carrier customizations to load at boot (which they won't on WM6 kitchen roms), just push the reset button when your screen says "customizing in 3 seconds"

2) Unlikely. Bars displayed doesn't mean a thing. If you aren't having any issues, then don't bother. It is not advised to upgrade your radio just because you can.

Cannot Receiv Phone Calls *** Help ***

After new flash....

Issue: Phone rings, and I can either NOT answer (both Answer soft-key and the off-hook button do not respond), OR the phone answers to speakerphone, with the microphone inactive (so they can't hear me)

This started happening just after a clean ROM flash. (See attached selections).
No other software installed post ROM flash.

Strangely enough, I think my phone skin disappeared as well and is back to the default.

Re: Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) - UPDATED 20071217

Thanks for the tips about TodayAgenda. Once I get my newest problem fixed I'll give that a whirl. Also might go to calplus, which seems like a leaner version of TA that might work as well for me.

New problem...

Last week I updated with this kitchen probably 6 or 7 different times before settling on what I thought would be a keeper build. Turns out I hate the new Cyberon voice command so today I tried to update to a newer build with a couple minor selection changes. For some reason it cannot connect to my phone to update the ROM.

Same identical hardware on both ends, cables, procedural steps, etc. I don't *think* it's a user error as I've done this altogether now at least 30-40 times since getting the phone and have never had a single problem. I can follow directions and it works every time. I am running a Vista machine but last week I had absolutely no trouble right out of the box last week.

I save my latest keeper build and thought perhaps there was something incompatible in my new selections, so I tried my last successful one a week ago. Still no connection, multiple tries. I tried Helmi's default selections. Nope, no connection.

However... at one point in the middle of all these attempts I did connect and update successfully one time. Trouble is, it happened to be with last week's build. Thinking my troubles were over, I immediately tried again with today's build. Arrrgghh... no connection again. And again, and again.

Right now the phone is clean and when I connect via USB normally, I'm prompted to set up a new sync partnership and I can browse the phone normally so I know the hardware works.

Any ideas what else to try?

Thanks,
~Jacy

I have a generic carrier reselling this phone, and I was wondering which to pick. Our carrier is Hargray Communications and all that is listed on the phone is UTStarcom. Thanks!
