So I should really be looking at t-mobile version, since it runs on the US 3G network?

I just double checked because I didn't want to give you bad information. Below are all the frequencies supported by the various TP2s (I got all the information from phonearena.com). I think my earlier statement about the Sprint TP2 not supporting international GSM 3G might be slightly inaccurate. It ONLY supports 2100mhz GSM 3G. But you can look at of the frequencies listed below. Btw what GSM 3G frequency is used in the EU?

The Sprint TP2 (and other North American CDMA TP2s have the following frequencies:
GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
CDMA dual band (800/1900 MHz)
UMTS European/Asian 3G (2100 MHz)

By comparison here are the frequencies of the EU/International version [no 3.5mm headphone]:
GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
UMTS dual-band European/Asian 3G (900/2100 MHz)

Here are the frequencies of the AT&T TP2 (Tilt2): [no 3.5mm headphone]
GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
UMTS tri-band global 3G (850/1900/2100 MHz)

Here are the frequencies of the U.S. T-Mobile TP2: [no 3.5mm headphone]
GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
UMTS dual-band global 3G (1700/2100 MHz)

If none of the U.S. TP2s support the correct frequency for EU 3G, and you're still set on getting one, I would recommend the Sprint TP2 because the sim card slot is already unlocked for use in the EU (or anywhere outside the U.S.). Otherwise, you will have to pay additional $ to get the phone Radio/Sim card slot unlocked and reflash the radio. Also you don't need a Sprint TP2 with a clean ESN, so you can probably get one for significantly cheaper. You just have to remember if you want to flash ROMs (after a Hard SPL unlock - free) you need to get CDMA roms.

I just spoke to our carriers tech support and they use:
GSM 900/1800 MHz and
UMTS 900(regional areas) and 2100MHz(Metro areas)

sooo, the sprint ver will work fine in every area bar regional areas where for data usage you'd only get 2G speeds.

This doesn't seem to be a big issue... except i live in a regional area.

to be honest i'm srsly thinking about unpacking this i***** 3gs sitting on top of my computer... Thanks again jasper for your insight and help

CORRECTION: Verizon TP2 has Headphone jack, and can be unlocked FOR FREE by calling Verizon Global Services, if you have one of the following:
1) a good-standing personal account and had the TP2 longer than 2 months
OR
2) a Business or Government account

Just tell them that you are traveling overseas next week, and need to unlock the SIM.

Isn't that a GSM rom? Wouldn't that brick your phone since you have a Sprint CDMA one?
