Okay, stupid question here.

If i JB and Unlock will ATT still know that I an using there sim card in an unregistered iphone?

I think they will, but since I am not on ATT I can't be 100% sure.

Quick question bought the phone already but they uploaded 4.0 and erased everything off of it so now all i get is the screen where u have to connect the iphone to itunes.

So basically i have to wait until jailbreak comes out and unlocker to be able to do anything?

is it a 3G or a 3GS?

on both just stick ANY sim in and connect to iTunes, it will activate it and get you going to ATT only.

then on the 3G you can JB and unlock, on the 3GS I will get you jailbroken very soon

you used to be able to get away with not having an ATT SIM.

Currently there is no JB for the 3GS on iOS 4 if you did an official update, so you can only use an ATT sim right now till the new JB comes out any day now.

So wait does that mean that i can reupdate the 3GS with a different ipsw file that has iOS 4 that is not official and then jailbreak that and then unlock it?

yes but only if it is on 3.1.2 or below,

if it has already been updated to iOS4 then the bootrom is now updated and you cannot flash a patched IPSW on it till they release the updated tools to do so.

just curious how do you know that a jailbreak for iOS4 on the 3GS is "coming out very soon" or "any day now"?

I thought it always took longer to make a jailbreak for the 3GS model...or am I incorrect?
