I have noticed these facts about the a stock android 2.3.4 os. Battery charging only to 94,95% which is a kernel/battery thing. Example the evo never fully charged to a 100% it just said 100%. That's what prompted people to use custom kernels with SBC mod to deliver a bump charge. Aosp operating systems have a tendency to deliver low amount of reception bars. I don't put that must value of it, as long as I'm not dropping calls etc. I believe these are addressable in software/firmware/radio/kernel update. Well I not only believe I'm almost sure of it. If your a HTC sense user than the HTC evo 3d is worth waiting on.

Re: Nexus S Weak Radios/Battery Problems
I'm in the north suburbs of Chicago, bout 45 mins away and have noticed my "bars" are less, but my speeds are the same. Haven't been down to the city to test out the 4G yet, but where i live 4G is very weak. my epic and evo would get a very minimal 1 bar, but i have noticed 4g on my ns4g is struggling to connect out here (never use it anyways tho).

agreed. here's what i posted at xda a few mins ago: I really didn't think i had this issue til yesterday. Where i used to have a bar of 3G with my my epic, i now have a bar or 2 1x with my NS4G. I used to have 1 bar 4G at work with my Epic, now I can't get it to connect from sitting at my desk. IMPORTANT HERE: My phone died at 6pm yesterday, i left it off and charged it til 8pm. WELL, my boss sent me a text message during those 2 hours telling me to come into work today a couple hours early... never got the message when i turned my phone back on (and i came in late for work today). When my boss didn't believe me, i turned my phone off, had him send me a text, waited a couple mins then turned my phone back on, and what do ya know, didn't get the message. This is a problem, cuz with my Epic I would recieve any messages sent to me when i turned my phone back on. I really hope these are radio issues that will be released in an update near in the future. I know we have 30days or something to return our phones, but I'm gunna hold out, i have faith there will be an update coming fixing some of these quirks. |

I'm gambling also with my 30 day exchange, hoping that a near future software update will address what's on. Last edited by info[]box1; 05-19-2011 at 03:40 PM. |

Re: Nexus S Weak Radios/Battery Problems
sprint has acknowledged the issues on the nexus and hopefully a fix will be coming soon. yes.. while aosp roms has weaker signals they are usually not this bad. this is a radio or network issue. i hope this is more software than hardware as i can see alot of people are about to return their devices. this is issue is on every major blog & forum out there including sprint's and google's.
the good thing about owning a nexus is you do not have to wait long for updates.

Re: Nexus S Weak Radios/Battery Problems
Be fair, there are lots of good things about owning a Nexus S. I am stunned at how fast this phone is in general.
Has anyone put an Epic 4G next to the Nexus to compare the signal strength? I wonder if it is just a Samsung thing. |
