Finally, they offered to exchange me up to a new Arrive phone w/ WP7 on it. I figured I'd give it a try for a few more months until my upgrade path came open and then I'd decide whether to stay Windows or go Droid. So far, for me, the jury is still out. I'm waiting to see what happens with the platform later this year and whether MS really puts any significant support and input into it or leaves it to flounder.

@JohnMcD348
yea they aren't going to leave it to flounder. the experience in WP Mango is better than anything Android can offer (tho there will be some android supremacists that will disagree and flame over this statement).

I do agree it will not flounder. WP7 is coming together MUCH faster than I thought it would. After Mango RTM, it will really be a force to be reckoned with.

I don't agree with the second statement, but also not going to say Android is unequivocally better. they are very different and it's really a matter of preference after Mango. I prefer Android, but for a lot of people WP7 is a better choice. I find myself booting into WP7 for some games/apps and the overall UI at times, then rebooting back to Android for some other things. After I flash 7720 I will probably use them 50/50

Re: Why did you choose W7 over Android ?

I've been waiting for good hardware on wp7, but think I decided I wanted it almost immediately since it could always run droid ontop.
also I think gmotogle is doomed.

oh yea, not to mention the extra extortion i'll pay with sprint for 4g which is still 200 miles away. a tp2 with winmo stripped down isn't all that bad.

I have decided that the only make I'll buy is HTC and maybe Samsung. can't wait to see what actually comes out in the next few weeks, maybe someone else will win my business.

@shaggylive that "extortion" is not for 4G it's for true unlimited data. would u rather pay $30 to $40 or more a month on a different carrier for the same level of service? that to me is extortion.

lol. well I suppose 3g limits you to ~596,160,000kb per month... ;b kik (kid, i, kid)
well we do have choice in carrier's and I choose sprint, however we don't have choice in devices, but since only the carrier comes with a contract, I call an added fee when I already have 'unlimited data' extortion.

Re: Why did you choose W7 over Android ?

For me HTC was a big decision in choosing my last smartphone. Actually it was my first, a TP2. Prior to that I had quite a few HTC devices that were built before they became an end user device manufacturer. My TP2 wasn't the best device however. I think I got one built on a Friday, and the last 5 refurbs were put together by the same kid. I did however end up with this new Arrive out of the deal and so far, it's as good as my Axim x51v was and still is.

I guess it just really comes down, for me anyway, to how much of a push MS does to really put their product out there on the market once they get the OS up to a competitive level with the other big players.

One thing I liked about the Arrive though was being able to uninstall all of the HTC/Sprint crap without needing to do any special unlocking routine, and none of it can run on "startup".
Sprint actually added the feature to remove all the sprint stuff without unlocking..as for removing sense well that is a no go..HTC wouldn't even release their tablet with honeycomb simply because sense wasn't ready..its hard for HTC to compete in hardware, so they try to keep people in their "sense ui ecosystem"..

I personally prefer the Touchwiz that comes with the Samsung phones over sense..TouchWiz is a simple clean UI and isn't very bulky(2mb whole thing). The Touchwiz framework is a bit bigger but it actually speeds up the phone so its worth it overall. If you prefer stock ui though you can disable the TW launcher...

oh that's crazy so anyone who doesn't want it there that doesn't know to root is pretty much stuck with it or its RAM usage.
