Since my store just had the fake models I couldn't actually compare the screens, the Focus just felt cheap to me.

Re: The keys to Windows Phone's Success

My guess is this..remember AT&T did the 6month thing for the iphones...aka everyone who wanted to upgrade till 2011 is taken...only people left were ones who didn't want iphones...and the Captivate came out to please those...so only one remaining are those that didn't ant iphones and didn't want the captivate..

Aka until 2011 AT&T base is pretty much dry.

Re: The keys to Windows Phone's Success

I still remember when Sprint was announced as a launch partner back when Windows Phone 7 was first shown in Spain!

Re: The keys to Windows Phone's Success

Sprint is a partner... Just not yet...

The slogan get in and get out is a direct comparison to the old way most of us have to do things... Look for the app (apple users may have it on their front screen of may have to page over to find it)... launch it... refresh it... go to updates... then read updates (If any).
The tiles tell you if you have updates and from whom. Click on it and see the update(if you even care to see the update knowing who it's from)... Move on with your life.
I agree... They should have had more phones at launch... But they also have to show the manufacturers that the OS is viable... That word was specifically used by Motorola. And, I can't rule out the possibility of an artificial supply and demand frenzy being built up by Microsoft and partners. Aslo... ATT guaranteed Microsoft a certain number of sales which is a major reason for the GSM exclusive release. Look... It's almost thanks giving. I can almost guarantee small shipments to stores right around thanks giving and then multiple small ones one right after the other the closer we get to Christmas. Just like it happened with the PSP. My son was Soooooo happy when he got his before christmas. People were offering me 500 dollars for it. My son "wisely" refused. The right after Christmas the market was flooded. Same with the PS3. It's a marketing technique that WE as consumers fall for year after year. Remember the cabbage patch kids? Tickle me Elmo? etc etc.

But I don't have to worry about it. I have Sprint and will ge my phone next year. LOL.

In fact, I hear it said often, its too late for Microsoft. Too late for what? What does too late mean?
Too late is not making any serious changes to your OS from 6.1 to 6.5... letting your base dwindle, only putting out ONE phone in the meantime. They sat back and watched Android and IOS eat their marketshare more and more everyday before they decided to actually do something about it. Too long is letting people sign contracts and get accustomed to other OS and become bitter with winmo and be not likely to change back to winmo when its all said and done.

THATS what too long is. I mean lets be honest, aside from forums like these this phone is garnering very little buzz. I dont think I know ANYONE that bought one or plans to. And I only know one person still using winmo that has a tp2. On the other hand, I know a shit load of people with evos, epics, iphones and blackberries. In a market like this momentum is key. And while MS watched, Android took the momentum. In a years time... Android will probably be the biggest US seller.. second internationally to Nokia. Android is keeping popularity because they make changes.. and OFTEN...while giving variety.

MS basically threw glaze over the same OS and changed the numbers.. and thank HTC for sense otherwise even 6.5 would look exactly like 6.1. All im saying is they shouldnt have been sitting on their hands while everyone else (except RIM) was innovating. And then, even after all that time passed and the hundreds of millions for development and advertising, they still make you wait for basic functions like copy and paste...and I dont think its even solid on whether real multi tasking will ever come. They took all that time and changed the UI.. which doesnt look bad.. and went in reverse in functionality. I mean seriously, no swapping SD cards without voiding the warranty?

When it comes to mobile OS microsoft just doesnt seem to get it and that was the main reason I left.

Re: The keys to Windows Phone's Success

It makes me wonder if Microsoft waited so long to make Windows Mobile less known. Let me break down this theory.

-MS knows that Windows Mobile is losing popularity, so they decide to make a new OS (WM7).
-They know that Android is becoming what WinMo should have been, so they decide to go the iPhone route (it just works)
-WM6 is still being supported, but only in a limited way
-MS decides to try and start over with their mobile OS after their huge sucesses with Xbox and Windows 7, so they hang back and wait for Windows Mobile to be all but forgotten
-Release WP7 to an audience of people who know Xbox and Windows and market the phone not as Windows Phone 7, but just "the new Windows phone" hoping to draw in new customers rather than old

I mean this kinda makes sense.. but the thing is most people that have ever used winmo are still going to associate wp7 with it.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

Microsoft is going after a while new demographic than the classic winmo users. They want the iphone crowd.

Wirelessly posted (Sprint Touch pro 2: Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13337/21.549; U; en) Presto/2.5.25 Version/10.54)

a few points, A, alot of ppl incl. myself actually really like the tile idea. and 'when' it ends up being hacked and we start seeing some great roms and skins themes etc. i'll like it even more! especially with the new hardware specs, making life easier.... it seems that after the long wait, and im on sprint, so im still waiting! they have put out phones that should be kicking! which comes to B. i spoke to an at&t store rep and he was telling me how all the stores received 10 phones 3-3-4 the 4 was the samsung in his store, he said it took 2 days to sell as opposed to the iphone which sold in 1. he told me that only that last night (thursday) there was a briefing on wp7 and he had no idea how to use it or its features till then!? there was no working display model, only dummies... he said he was a staunch iphone lover but he said the MS guy bought him and he therefore was going to switch to wp7. so bottom line, C, if MS wants so get these phones out they have to get started reading the cons on ppcgeeks and start preparing vigerously an update, they have to get the stores covered in 'winfo' and boost all over advertising 'sell it like they mean it!' get verizon and sprint the phones by latest the begining of january! remember! for the first few months till then any developers on cdma phones will not be very doing much developing! one of the biggest mistakes of the palmpre! if its everywhere and there's more access there's more developers and ppl advertising! imagine going from a non smartphone to wp7 it'll blow your mind all your friends will know just how awesome tiles and the browser and video and music and xbox etc... are and thats another reason not to limit the phones so much! you want to get it out like got potatoes to start the wp7 community! all phones need a community the quicker it picks up the more advertising it gets by word of mouth! when comparing working display models in store the tiles definity catch the eye as much if out more than android or iphone, so get the stores display models and get behind the phone full force its a decent product, dont hold down its potential, it is on par with iphone and android and can definitely compete and possibly beat them if MS put some love in this. i have a tp2 but i am now using a BB as my tp2 is pissing me off... i think i will go 4 wp7 when it comes to sprint but if it doesn't shoot up by then them i might just get epic.... we'll see...
