Re: Cabs, Exes and other custom hacks
If an app is listed as compatible for WM5, then it should run on any device with that OS, regardless of make. Same w/ WM6. The other thing to look at is screen compatibility. 320 x 240 is common, 240 x 240 not so much (I think the Treo is the only one with this model). You may be able to run an app designed for the 320 x 240 on a 240 x 240, it just will not display correctly. As for .cabs vs. .exes, these are methods of packaging apps. The .cab format is designed to be run directly from your device, where the .exe format is run from your PC with your device connected. As far as reg hacks go, many of these are device specific. You best bet is to check the Touch forum to be sure anything you do to your device will work

Re: Cabs, Exes and other custom hacks
Hi Geekcop,
thanks for taking the time to explain to me... how about those tools that no2chem made at http://www.weienterprises.com/nue/. For example, the battery.dll , nueAudio which he made for the Titan ( i think) Can these be applied on the HTC Touch... since its the same WM ? ps: Looking at the battery.dll, how would you install this for example... i know there is a cab version which i downloaded, but i'm curious to know how this works in this case, when there is a bunch of files... Thanks! |

Re: Cabs, Exes and other custom hacks
Its best to backup, then test...
Some phones have hardware others don't, such as IR ports or Accelometers, so programs that use them will fail... Also, some vendors have features they have removed (or added in some cases) from Windows to encourage you to use a service from them instead... (You can usually overcome these issues by cooking your own ROM...) Good Luck |
