Is it Just me, or is the Voicemail # ACCURATE NOW?

Interesting. I emailed ECare the other day about this, saying that I had friends in PA that had accurate voicemail counts... their response:

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you
regarding voicemail.

I understand your concern regarding the voicemail. However, we do not
have any such update. The voicemail count reflects only one unread mail
as usual. Thus, I request you to ask your friend to powercycle the
phone. To powercycle, switch off the phone and switch it back on after
60 seconds.

Further, I have also forwarded the case to the technical department.
One of our specialists will contact you within 24 to 48 hours and will
be happy to assist you.

I like how they said that someone who had an accurate voicemail count should powercycle their phone, as if that would mean it was broken... hahaha!! So now I'm awaiting contact from their technical dept., that should be fun. Just for kicks, I replied to the above with:

Thanks for your response. However, upon searching online I came across a
discussion forum for Sprint users... there are tons of users on the East
Coast that are reporting similar results with accurate voicemail
counts.. someone also mentioned speaking to a Sprint tech who confirmed that you
guys are slowly migrating to a new voicemail system. This must've started within
the last 3-4 days.

Their response:

Thank you for the reply.

As mentioned in the previous email, we do not have any update regarding
the voicemail. However, I have already forwarded the case to the
technical department. Please be assured that you will be contacted from
one of our specialists from the technical department and will be happy
to assist you.

Too funny. As usual, Sprint reps very inconsistent with their knowledge/information. Oh well... hopefully when (if) the tech calls, he tells me that it'll be working in the Chicago area within the next week or two... That'd be sweet.

it wasnt an immediate response when i got the rep, it took her about 20 minutes checking with supervisors and such to return an answer. Im more inclined to believe her because, IF they weren't changing something, then this thread wouldnt exist, right?

I agree with you. Apparently their "tech" got back to me... first response was that I should install the latest ROM... haha... I emailed:

Actually I already have the latest ROM update installed... The Sprint
voicemail count isn't a hardware problem, but a question of how things
are handled on the Sprint side of things..

I was merely inquiring as to when the voicemail system update would be
available in the Chicago area, as I know tons of people on the northeast
coast who recently started getting accurate unread voicemail counts.

The reply back a few hours later was:

Thank you for responding.

After further review I have found that the issue with the Message
Waiting Indicator on the Mogul and several other Smartphone is currently
being resolved by markets. However be reassured that this issue will be
resolved when the engineers release the mass solution to your market.
Unfortunately I do not have an estimated date on the release to your
market.

So... no date (unfortunately), but at least another confirmation that they're working on it for mass release.

This is the best news from Sprint that I have heard in a while. I've been waiting for this feature for sooooo long. After years of being with Sprint you tend to get used to the idea of not knowing how many messages you have but then when you finally get that feature back you realize how much you've been deprived!

true, it makes a difference. it was just such a cool surprise to look at my today screen and be like wtf is that really working now?!
