The Sprint alternative is only in select markets so far (Denver, Indianapolis + one more). I would definitely have sprung for it though. It might be worth it for unlimited calls. I might look into one of the passive receivers first. At the very worst I'd have lost $20.

You may also wish to verify your PRL is updated to allow it to roam to the next best towers effectively. 60611 is the latest and may offer better luck. If you need instructions how to do this, click here.

That beautiful CEO you are talking about hit me with his last round of layoffs at EQ. Fortunately I was already planning to leave and finalized my new job with Sprint the week after turning down the package. Worked out for me, double salary for a while. Yippee
To get back to the topic at hand, I agree on the PRL update, and the other option is to simply turn the phone on roam only mode while at home. This might ensure better coverage.
