Got TP2 with EnergyROM, have voice but no data

I have a Moto Q9C on SERO. Got a TP2 from a friend. It gives me errors when I try to browse:

"Cannot Connect
Dialed: #777
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings...", etc.

Settings, About phone, hardware information shows no username, etc.

If I run "Carrier Provisioning" from Start, Tools and pick "Sprint", then it fills in the username of my buddy@sprintpcs.com.

Help...

I've been reading, and it seems that I have to flash back to the stock ROM, then go back to EnergyROM (or whatever ROM). Is that correct?

Edit: nevermind. Put 6.5 rom on it.
