So eitherway, we're all screwed lol. (it sounded better in my head, I would elaborate more, but I'm very tired lol.)

Re: Radiation with Phones turned off?
If everything is off, the speaker's magnet may be waiting to attack. However, it has not been announced that cell phones prevent/reduce the affect(s) of Alzheimer's on mice.

Re: Radiation with Phones turned off?
It does if you have wifi or bluetooth on

Re: Radiation with Phones turned off?
every second of every minute of every hour of every day you are being bombarded with:
(From the Sun) Gamma Radiation Ultraviolet Radiation Specifically also Alpha particles, Beta Particles, Positrons and photons (from Earth's Natural Resources) Alpha Particles and Positrons (Often from nearby decaying organisms and rocks etc.) Typical Electromagnetic fields on the Earth (From Manmade Technology) Microwaves (Just like in your cellphone, every time you run the thing or someone does nearby) Radio Waves (Tons of 'em from TV, Radio, Satellites, WiFi, Bluetooth. Even if you are not running it, people who have them on, your routers/bluetooth devices elsewhere, even the 3 mile radius of a cell tower) alpha particles/positrons (Leave near a nuclear power plant? Say 50 mile radius) Electrical Cables emit their own fields In Conclusion, Don't worry; Be Happy! Note: Though a large portion of said radiation is blocked by our atmosphere, walls, doors, even thin paper, the minute amounts still hit us. The notation is not to be worried unless you're the tin foil hat kind of person, in which case you might as well panic. Last edited by Laos101; 01-12-2010 at 09:45 PM. |

Re: Radiation with Phones turned off?
I wish I had the device that detects the radiation to find that out. But I assume that with all the advice columns out there listing turning it off as a tip to avoid radiation, it makes sense that it doesn't.
I haven't seen any correlations between what certain devices have and amount of radiation and that will probably help this whole theory. I guess the theory sticks that if you talk like a teenage girl on it, you're at higher risk. |

Re: Radiation with Phones turned off?
There is no risk at all with radiation. Take this into consideration.
Your phone broadcast at we will say 1 watt of radiation power. This is a high number being that phones typically 1/4 watt. A radio tower can broadcast at around 50,000 watts. So if you stand anywhere near the tower you are getting so much more radiation. And the higher frequency signals in your phone penetrate less into you skin than do the radio tower low frequencies. So you have nothing to worry about. |

Re: Radiation with Phones turned off?
Well it depend on if there are any other wireless signals, such as Wifi and Bluetooth, but you are bombarded with that everyday nowadays. Or maybe there are wireless signal going on anyway without your consent since your cellphone company is spying on you on behalf of the government (Sprint GPS case). If you have the proper tool you can measure the power of a specific wireless frequency band being emitted.
I'm sure there are many articles on cellphone health you can search for for better info than here. If you are concerned, don't use Bluetooth headsets and don't put it next to your head, use a wired heatset. Wait 10 years and see if everyone else gets brain tumor. The GSM phones have a legal limit of outputting 2watt maximum for 850/900 band and 1watt for 1800/1900. By average it's less than that for normal usage though. Certainly less than something like a microwave when it's on. Last edited by eksasol; 01-14-2010 at 01:20 PM. |
