This is just not factual, and not the case.

If you got the impression that everyone hates it, it's like going to church and asking why everyone hates porn. (might be a bad example here, but do you get what I'm saying?)

It might have been more productive to ask, how the iphone today compares to other smart phones (ppc's) and why many here prefer them to the iphone.

The iphone is right for a great number of people. I'm not one of them. It aided the evolution of the finger-friendly screen and is a nice app launcher.

I have a WM phone that does everything I need it to do and is very customizable. I have never been happier with a phone. It's neither clunky nor slow and a perfect set-up for my family and I to stay on the same page.

I don't hate the iPhone, it's just not my cup of java.

LOL yeah, asking why everyone on a WM site hates the iPhone is fairly redundant, but I get his point.

The rest is pretty much spot-on. Its all preference, bottom line. It's great that people are so passionate about their own phone that the preference of others can anger them so much.

LOL The discussion is good though, hell I had this very same debate with myself once. Had the 8525, then Tilt, then iPhone, then switched to sprint and got the treo 800, diamond, and TP. Then decided on a BB Curve, then back to the TP before going back to the iPhone. Been here since, but at least I can say I made sure it was the right phone for me.

I have to correct myself, it actually started in the WOW the iphone is fast thread which was in the main forums. That thread was moved here and then I got into this thread as well. I would also like to point out that I have restrained myself very well in these discussions. Drift knows what I'm talking about, the firehouse can be pretty ruthless. My very best friends have said meaner things to me than anyone online has lol.

lol in all honestly I dont harp on the downfalls of windows mobile or the downfalls of Iphone cause they both have grown to where honestly if I went back to just 1999 our phones would make people cry out of pure joy.

Its all about delivery. Period.
People are going to go for what is more productive or they are going to go for what feels better/easier and try to find a middle ground. A best of both worlds if you will. some will lean one way while others will lean to the other. There has yet been a phone that has yet to truly capture the best of both because there will never be one. people are the problem as people will always lean based on there lifestyle.

We used to be able to gripe about features but half of us forgot how things used to be in the smartphone world apprently. I praise Windows Mobile and Palm for there great ideas for fuctionality for PDA/Smartphone Devices. I praise Apple Iphone for showing the world that they CAN enjoy a smartphone and push competition further. I praise Blackberry for there Steller Email delivery system and all around work oriented products and I praise them for adventuring (same with WM) into the world to where its NOT just for business.

I have owned nearly all phone OS types (except webOS though I tried and liked it. with the Pre im waiting for Verizon on that one(side note EVERY AREA IS DIFFERENT WHEN IT COMES TO COVERAGE SO NO NEED TO DEBATE ABOUT SOMETHING THAT IS GEOGRAPHICAL)) Android, Windows Mobile, Original Palm, Blackberry and I wont even go into the version numbers. Its all about Delivery like I said. All have there ups and downs.

Right now wife has a BB that I LOVE to help her with, I have a WM THAT I LOVE, I HAD an Iphone that I LOVED, I HAD an android phone that I loved but needs to mature.

But look at any spec sheet when it comes to features for ALLLLLLLL of these devices. You will see SO many similarities that its FUNNY AND NOT FUNNY at the same time. and yet we QQ over the 2 or 3 features that each phone doesn't have. No point. If you don't like something thats fine but don't bash someone for it and visa versa. People just want to make there phone look cool by bashing others and honestly its sickening to me. I only compete with my phone when someone is bashing me. Other than that I don't flaunt my phone since IM the only one thats going to be using it for the most part anyways.

All im saying is people shouldnt knock others stuff all the time just because they:
a. havent tried it
b. didnt give it a chance when they did
c. feel bad about there purchase
d. like one style over another (PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT STYLES...it happens!)
e. dont like another carrier (geographic, finacial, or treatment again will be different!)
f. dont have anything better to do.

Seriously though, good post. I wasnt always a winmo fanboy, but after countless times of people sticking thier iphone in my face to show me their new app that makes a fart noise or pours out a virtual beer I'm just really sick of the whole iphone culture. I agree with everything in your post except the coverage thing. While it is true that coverage is purely geographical, it is also true that that is part of having an iphone as long as they only allow one carrier to have it. If they bring the iphone to other carriers then the coverage/carrier argument would be null.

to get it to another carrier all you need to do is unlock and jailbreak it. Some people have said that there is a way to get it to verizon as well, as seen on page 11 of wow the iphone is fast.

Yeah but those hacks are broken every software update, and as of right now 3.1 puts an end to EVERYTHING. We'll see how long that lasts...

Carrier exclusivity is done all the time, look how long it took for a new CDMA BlackBerry. Nothing I can say to argue that point.
