Iphones are popular because they're flashy toys marketed to hip twenty-somethings & Apple fans. Not saying the iPhone is a total POS, it does what it does well, but it is WAYYYY overhyped for what it really is. People think it's this UNBELIEVABLE device that changed the world, but it's not. It's a very limited device, a standard phone with a few neat features, that is popular because it LOOKS cool. It's like a cheerleader- pretty, but only capable of one thought process at a time. WM is a math club nerd- average to fugly but can write in a different language with each hand while reciting medieval poetry. Apple knew they'd sell millions of iPhones because A) Apple fanboys will buy anything shiny with an Apple logo on it, and B) if you hype something up enough people are bound to line up overnight to buy one.

For whoever asked what makes WM superior to iPhones, here's your answer. FREEDOM. The freedom to do literally whatever you want with your WM phone, without having to gain approval from Apple/AT&T. WM is both professional AND fun, and capable of doing almost everything a full-fledged computer can do. With an iPhone, well, you can do whatever Apple & AT&T ALLOWS you to do.

There. I've said my peace, we all know by now that I hate everything Apple & all I do is talk crap(and greatly enjoy it), so I'm vacating this thread.
U seem to know Iphone very well. Have U own one?

I dont know much about the Nokia phones so I really dont have anything to say about them. BB is just OK in my opinion, but Android looks pretty good and I would rather have a BB or Android phone before an iTurd. I do also have an iPod touch for working out at the station and I've had to deal with itunes because of it. I know about the iphone, thats exactly why I dont like it. I need a spare battery because I dont have a 9 to 5 office job, sometimes I'm stuck on scenes for a loooong time and having an extra battery is necessary sometimes since I wouldnt have access to a charger. As for itunes and it's 65,000 apps, thats exactly part of the problem. Itunes has 64,500 worthless applications that you have to trudge through in order to find the 500 or so apps that are actually worth a damn.

Eer, because it's dead & you want to put in a fresh one??

I agree with a lot of your statements, but for a pretty smart guy how can you ask something this stupid??

My boss switched our corporate account (48 phones) from Verizon to ATT a while back because his Wife wanted an iphone (he claimed the service was cheaper, but I see the bills & it is definitely NOT cheaper). When he made the switch, he got himself an iphone too.

About one week later, I saw him talking on a BB & asked him what happened to the iphone?? He told me he had to return it because he couldn't make it through a full work day on one charge of the battery (he gets a TON of calls everyday) & since it wasn't removeable there was no way to throw in a spare fully charged batt (like I do with my TP).........

No, I abhor both Apple and AT&T, so I will never give any of my money to either entity. But I know people with iPhones, and I have played with enough demos to know it's not all its cracked up to be. All the ones I've played with were slow & rather dull. Safari crashed repeatedly, and the on-screen keyboard was absolutely atrocious. While typing one 6-letter word, I had to hit delete like 8 times. Ridiculous. I had a friend who was an Apple fanboy, and every week he was at the Genius Bar troubleshooting his iPhone. I cannot for the life of me understand why so many people love these things. It's a niche product that for some reason is insanely popular with the 'hip' crowd. Since I am old & crunchy & not 'hip' anymore, maybe I just don't understand.

If you jailbreak, you get all of those, minus the screen, without risking losing the contract.

I have never had to call apple and have them fix a problem with my phone. Safari has never once crashed ever, and it is a very fast phone

As for the battery, does he work around a computer? why doesnt he just plug it in? And if you are on a scene, shouldnt you be doing something? Yeah I know how long they can be, we had a fire that took 7 hours one night.

Re: WOW the iphone is fast!

wow this turned out pretty heated. I've played with both and I have to admit the iphone does seem to run smoother than my stock 6.1 diamond rom. But After I installed da reeseboy 23008 along with a lot of tweaks to the phone I have to say its running comparably smooth. Let's look at some factors that WM has over the iphone:

1) you can port different UIs to WM, I installed and have tweaked iphonetoday which funny enough runs as smooth as the iphone does, so I can have an Iphone UI if I want. (and it runs is landscape). So I have tianium, or tf3d2, or iphonetoday, and that android UI I saw a thread for looks pretty interesting, can't do that on an iphone.

2) Tethering: Just plug in my phone and hit "phone as modem" and I'm online with a faster network than ATT. I think there's a long process to tether Iphones (correct me if I'm wrong)

3) battery removal - if your iphone runs out fo juice you're SOL, if my diamond does, I can just replace.

4) customization - need I say more? (true with an unlocked Iphone you can set mp3 as rings and chanee backegrounds and icons, wow...)

5) not everyone and their dog has a a wm device (this may just be me, but I'd hate having the phone everyone else has, im the only person with a diamond I know)

I know people with Iphones who think its the best thing ever since ground turkey, and 2 weeks later when I show them a new tweak or new ui port their jealous and wish they could do something other than change icons. And when wm7 comes out its all over with, unless the iphone changes a few things.

Iphone pros over wm

1) its "SO COOL!"

2) sometimes runs smoother

3) a few apps only made for iphone and not wm (yet)

and when they had those 3gs commercials that was like "now it plays videos" im like wtf, it didn't play videos until now... That was pretty weird.
