Re: WM to Android ?
Same situation. Ditch TP2 and go to Evo or EvoShift? I tried loading Android on the TP2 and couldn't get it to work right. And the inlaws have android phones, so the wife now wants us to give up our f&c plan to get android. Keep thinking something new and exciting will come out soon...though.

Re: WM to Android ?
I've been Pro windows since about 02 or 03 ish.
I've had about 5 Window's CE devices. Went to the Hitachi G1000, then to PPT 6600. Then 6700, 6800 Mogul, Diamond, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2. My motto was if it ain't window's I don't @$%* with it. Ever since I switched now I'm like "@$%* Window's" lol. Now I'm on Android. Was very skeptical before getting it. Of course there are a few things I miss and love about windows over Android but that's with any swich of systems you make. One of the few things that bugs me with Android is the File structure when navigating your SD card. That and DRM Liscense issues which is being worked on. Other than that, I am very very happy and I think you will be too. Everyone I know on a personal basis went to windows because of me and now have switched because of me and all have the same obsession/love for Android that I do. At least try it out and make sure it's a high end Android especially if you had a high end Window's device to get a good comparison, but I've heard that mid level android devices can blow away lots of high end windows devices. Just my .02 |

Re: WM to Android ?
I own a thunderbolt because of my previous experience with HTC devices, but I can honestly say that stock Android is a complete joke. I knew that I would benefit from community development, but I didn't realize how much it was needed -until I tried to download a text file attached to a work e-mail. I can't believe what an overhyped heap of Apple like dung Android really is. I have a lot of faith in the community but it seems ridiculous that I am so dependant on them with this OS. Even with flash, Android is most definitely a leap backwards from Windows Mobile 5.
More like an IPhone than a Windows device. However because of the hardware I am compelled to try find a way. I'm going to get a wp7 device, to see if it is any easier to customize. I bought Android bait because it was "based on Linux". Who the hell wants an IPhone emulator on Linux kernel? |

Re: WM to Android ?
I made the switch from the TP2 to the Android. Since I am with USCC I was limited at the time to the Samsung Acclaim, and the HTC Desire. Desire was the better choice of the two. But then I ran into one major problem, unlike my TP2 I couldn't load the apps on the SD card. And the promise of Android 2.2 was and still is not available through USCC. So I learned how to root the phone, I also flashed Android 2.2, then 2.3 and the Desires from USCC is still on 2.1 and now the upgrade to 2.2 has been delayed again.

Re: WM to Android ?
I've got my eye on the Thunderbolt when it comes out. If Windows 7 with 4G was available on Verizon, I don't know how quick I'd be to jump onto the android platform, but there are a lot of people that seem to like the platform and I can't see myself going back to Apple.

Re: WM to Android ?
WAS a die hard WM fan, waited and waited and waited for the "7 pro" to come out on sprint... would still be waiting if my TP didn't die. Had to have a phone that worked and made the switch to the shift. It must have been a sign or something because I love the new phone.
Took a bit to get used to andro but just trial and error I learned a lot. With android there is a LOT less error. (for me anyway, thanks to the great folks on this site) Not brave enough to flash a ROM yet, mostly because I am so happy with what I have already. Am rooted though, do have a lot less bloat now, do have wifi tethering, do have great battery life... DON'T have freezing every time I get a text!!! I used to love the thrill of the hunt in trying to find the problems with my WM phone. I would get SO pissed off trying to keep the damn phone alive. The wife kept me from having a TP shaped hole in the wall a few times. Now, there's an app for that... 'nuff said. COME TO THE DARK GREEN SIDE!!! |

Re: WM to Android ?
It is generally agreed that Win Mobile has problems. We can compare it to Windows Vista which was not accepted very well by the market. When you open the phone, there is a unique dual system start up menu. The upper one is Windows Mobile system, the lower one is Android system.
