I have an EVO so I am posting this here. If it should go elsewhere, go ahead and move it. If its been posted...sorry.

I read this article today and got a little bit disturbed...give it a read.

Really no surprise here... they put all this in the permissions in the market before you even download the app to tell you what its going to be accessing.

Before you install, it tells you that what the app will have access to. When it says phone, communications and internet.....

Anyway, I have nothing sensitive on my phone. So what if all the companies know I watch porn. Who doesn't.

These things were supposed to inform you of what the app needed access to, to work properly..ie handcent needs access to your text messages Google Maps needs location, blah blah blah...not to be able to send your info to third party advertisers and even though they can sale the info, what else would they do, how far are they goin to go is more of my concern.

Definitely no surprise. The Bigger surprise, imho, is the lack of users saying "heeeeey, wait a minute", just so they can use a cool new piece of tech. Heh. Lemmings abound. But hey, I'm an Android user, and gmail user, and I KNOW what I'm getting myself into, hence, gmail is not for personal mail, and anything really sensitive should not be on an android phone.

But on ther other hand, the screens pretty and it does stuff. LOL!

Its the whole purpose of this platform... Where does Google make their money?
