I'm eager to give Maxmanila another try...and was wondering if all the above mentioned mods are for cooking it directly in...or do I have to perform these mods to even install the cab?

These are for cooking in directly. Once you cook them in, you don't need to install the cab.

So when you download icon123's edited MaxManila, just unzip it into the EXT\Shared\Packages directory and then when building the ROM, make sure you select it to include in the build. When the ROM is finished installing on your phone, MaxManila will be up and running, right from the start.

Thnx for the reply...I'm not at my machine to cook a ROM right now...and wanted to tinker a bit here at work....

answered my own question that I already suspected...can't install the 3.0 cab without a bit of work with the kitchen...

Correct. If I knew how to convert my package to a cab I would do so. I have a program to convert exts to cabs, but I am not confident on my skills to do it.

Do you have WinCE Cab Manager? I think v3.0 (whichever one is free) is in the tools section of the ppcgeeks ftp.
All you have to do is:
- follow the paths found in app.dat to drag n drop the files in groups and assign them the correct locations.
- Most often the only other option you need to check is "warn user if skipped"
- Then go to File-> Import-> reg and import the app.reg
note: I'll often go and double-check and String Values cause occasionally it will mess up a multi-string value import.
note: I never make cabs that need special options for dll files so IDK about that stuff (options like self-regestering dll).

I find CabConverter/Cab2OEM->EXT sometimes creates a bad app.reg. So, it also makes it really easy to Export the .cab's registry entries to a file called app.reg.

Hey Calk, I love the kitchen, how complete and updated it is.
Only have one issue, the theme for the stock WM dialer skin that you include has some weird graphical issues(not too big but annoying). See here:

Awesome! Is 23529 noticeably better than 28223? And is it that sweet AKU5.5 that does it?
