Re: [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
If I have a Telus TP2 which came with the stock Telus rom and I later flashed to MightyRom then I should still have the same Telus Radio already present in my phone. It that correct? From earlier posts I read that the Telus radio posted is from the stock rom and not an upgrade of any sort so no point in Telus users flashing it correct? I guess its posted for other carriers as they may get better reception with the Telus radio.

Re: [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
OK, I am sorry 'bout this, but I've been reading for an hour. Someone please direct me to the correct thread.
I have a Verizon TP2. I get a poor phone signal at work, a co-worker just got a Sprint TP2 and has no problem. Another co-worker has a different Verizon phone and has no problem. The first said I might want to flash the radio. For some insight to my knowledge, I told him my phone didn't even have a radio. Please help, and thanks in advance. |

First, you have to unlock the phone for flashing. See the following thread for instructions: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=93252 Once you have done that, you can download any of the radios listed in the first post with the exception of the "SPCS_1.40WF <- Sprint 6.5 Test ROM Radio" (you need additional unlocking to make that work). Once you have downloaded the radio file, just run the .exe file and follow the instructions. As stated in the first post you can screw up your phone if you don't follow the instructions carefully (like disconnecting the phone from your computer during the process), but it is really pretty simple. There is no "best" radio, it is simply a matter of which one works best for your location, so if you try one and it doesnt work real well, just repeat the process with a new one. Good luck! |

Re: [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
has anyone had problems charging their phone after flashing to a different radio?
i have a sprint tp2 (rhod 400) and just flashed to the latest verizon radio, my phone charged fine overnight on my home htc charger, then the next day i couldnt get it to charge at all in my car, i unplugged it, plugged it back in, even shut the phone off to see if it would charge with it off (waited for orange light to come back on) even let it sit plugged in half an hour in the car to see if the battery got warm but nothing, then i tried another person's usb car charger and still nothing... ...got home and plugged into my pc and it charged just fine, as does home charger? i think its the radio causing this cuz im running mightyrom official atm and have never had this problem before

Re: [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
Ok so I dont know if anyone even reads this thread anymore, but I did some testing and this is Strictly to Sprint owners...No offense to any other carrier but I love Sprint...anyways....I tried the Verizon 2.23 that most Sprint users on here have hyped up, and here is what I experienced. Okay as far as signal sturdiness, I definitely seen some improvements. In places where I would normally get choppy until I went to a decent area in my house where the conversation was tolerable, with this particular radio I was able to hold a conversation ( a whole conversation at that) with exceptional sound quality. Didnt chop once. I even called an listened to my voicemail. Now here was the turn off. After about 7 solid hours of beating my phone up with email, internet, phone as modem, phone calls, and text. I had about 40% battery left. Not sexy at all! I am usually about 70% on the stock radio and one of the best, fastest, and stable ROMs available...MM2/01/2010!!! So this was a major turn off for me. I switched back to stock. Also I will add that I am testing in the southern region so it might be different somewhere else. So now I am testing the Verizon 1.88.07 version. Really loving it so far. I fully charged it and took it off the charger at about 1 a.m. last night and left it on dim and turn on my wifi and left it on a webpage with a lot of effects. Not sure if that uses more battery or not, but I just wanted to use as much as possible. I was expecting to wake up to a dead phone or even worse the sound of a dead phones alert noise along with the sound of that annoying voice telling me my battery is low, but surprisingly enough I was left with 70% battery, and I woke up at 10:37. So about 9 and a half hours of steady under moderate use and the battery has held up preatty good. I am still testing so will edit post later, but as far as signal sturdiness I would have to say that it was almost as good as the 2.23. I did get one choppy session that lasted about 2 seconds but was able to listen to all of my voicemails whereas in Sprint stock I was not able to even hear to press for my passcode. I havent tested any others but I plan to later. I would really like to know about the telus radio. I was gonna try but didnt, I tried the 1.88.07 and I like it so far. I will see how it goes from here.

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
I am on sprint as well and I live in NYC. Out of all the radios that I tried, the best one for me was the USC 2.18WV. It had good reception (slightly better than sprint stock) and great battery life. Verizon radios were best at signal strength but really took a toll on my battery. Guess you have to decide which is more important to you, Battery life or signal strength.
